The Andalucia / Malaga Province region

We are located in the most beautiful part of Spain, with very easy, fast road access to the stunning town of Ronda. The scenery is second to none. Our apartment is in a micro-area which looks similar to Tuscany and is unsurpassed in terms of its natural beauty. Our ideal location means that we are within walking distance of the village of Serrato with its grocery, bakery, pharmacy and cafe/bars and rustic restaurant, however we are equidistant between Seville and Granada and close to Setenil De Las Bodegas and the fabulous Spanish Lake District.
The Ronda / Serrato area
Ronda is a typically spanish town with an amazing situation perched on a cliff top. It offers dramatic views of the Ronda Mountains and is steeped in history. It is host to some fabulous restaurants. Explore the old town's cobbled streets and shaded squares. We are perfectly placed for day trips to Seville, Granada and Cordoba for visits to the Alhambra Palace and Mezquita, as we are placed equidistant from these three legendary Andalucian cities. The cathedral in Seville is not to be missed. Within 20 minutes drive there are the Spanish Lakes which are absolutely stunning, turquoise in colour these must be seen and are great for a day swimming, canoeing or pedaloe-ing, there are plenty of restaurants with great views of the area for a relaxed lunch. We particularly recommend the whitewashed village of Setenil (15 minutes drive away) which is home to the unusual cave houses, these are set into rock and are quite a spectacle. The market square is a great place for lunch.

We stayed at Finca Canamero for a week in mid June 2011, and loved it. The accommodation (we stayed in the upstairs apartment) was spacious and tastefully decorated. The grounds, the pool and the views were amazing. Alex and Irene were perfect hosts. I would recommend this Finca to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway in a beautiful part of Spain. |
Guestbook for Finca Canamero
July 2011: After having such a great time last year we decided to return for another week. Because we had already been last year we felt we would be able to get an awful lot of relaxation and pleasure from a shorter break in a place where we knew a little bit about the area and amenities. This turned out to be a good decision as everything went so smoothly from arriving at Malage to transferring up to Finca. We had a truly relaxing weeks holiday with excellent weather. We revisited the lakes for a pedalo ride and a lovely meal overlooking the lake. We had a few trips into Ronda which is only a short drive away. I would seriously recommend trying the Churros and chocolate - we tried these in Cafe Alba which is on the main shopping street in Ronda - which were truly delicious.
All of the people we came across in the village we once again extremely friendly and helpful. Our son and his friend enjoyed playing "cops & robbers" with some of the local Children. Bar Rafa was still our favourite for Tapas. We also visited the restaurant "Piscina" in Cuevas - we had a lovely meal which was very good value for money. We don't have any immediate plans to return yet but we will certainly be back at some point in the future when we return to Andalucia as it is so peaceful and tranquil it makes a great place for a truly relaxing holiday.
June 2011: we have just returned from our fist, but not last, visit to the Finca Canamero.
The property is in an idylic setting with fantastic view across open courntry side and to the mountains. Extremely peaceful yet only a short walk into the local village of Serrato.
The property boasts a large swimming pool which was a god send at the end of a hot day. The apartments themselves were spacious with everything you are likely to need.
Serrato itself is fairly quiet however we did find three local "tavernas" providing an extremely refreshing beer on a hot evening. There is an abundance of local resaurants however you would ned to drive to them (short five minute drive) . Ronda is a 20 minute drive from the apartment.
This is a perfect base to explore the local countryside and we found several lovely local towns which you would not find on any Tourist excursion. The Spanish lakes are also on your doorstep and well worth a visit for the day. Marbella & Gibralta are also easily accessible either by car or short train journey.
I can only agree with previous comments for this accomodation. Providing you are looking for a relaxing & peacefull atmosphere I would suggest you get yourself booked up and enjoy.
Irene & Alex were the perfect hosts and were able to recommend places to visit/eat etc
June 2011: Beautiful villa set in stunning location with amazing views. Lovely pool which was needed as temperatures reached 30 deg C while we were there. Far enough away to relax and unwind but easy to get to local towns. A visit to Ronda is recommended. Hosts were super friendly and happy to advise on good places to visit. Would definitely like to return again next year for more of the same!!
June 2011: Well worth multi visits to this lovely natural location with panoramic views. Watch the swallows skimming the beautiful pool's surface when not in use! The spacious, cool, clean and rustic apartments are ideal and very restful. The highly amenable and knowledgeable owners are an absolute bonus as they know the area well. Even if tennis is wanted they can point you in the right direction!! Visits to surrounding locations including the lovely historic town of Ronda and the lakes are a "must" as are the tapas bars and restaurants dotted around everywhere!!
My second visit, I have wonderful, abiding memories of this haven.
June 2011: It gets better all the time......this place is fantastico!! The apartments are well equipped, very comfortable, clean and a cool retreat from the hot Spanish sun. The views are spectacular and a joy to behold. The pool deserves plenty of laps - it is so inviting and refreshing. The hosts are great and know the area well and can advise on good trips out. The local village has some great bars with tasty tapas....and a trip to Ronda is well advised. I hope to return again next year and who knows maybe the year after that!!
December 2010: Lovely break. Rural, peaceful, quiet, just the way we like it. Serrato bars are walkable and Ronda is nearby. Pool was well used even if in October. Fantastic surroundings to be explored.
