The Central Southern England region

Quintessentially English, this is the heart of the green, rolling countryside that people come from all over the world to see. The New Forest was the traditional hunting ground of the Kings of England.

Come and enjoy the open heathland, green forest and abundant wildlife from the New Forest ponies to the cattle and deer that wander across the tracks and paths. The Test Valley boasts some of the finest fly fishing in the world and some of the most traditional English pubs to relax in afterwards.

History is everywhere, the ancient capital of Winchester, the towering cathedral city of Salisbury, the lively harbour city of Southampton, home of the busiest UK cruise terminal and the departure point for the Titanic, celebrated in the wonderful Sea City Museum.

Romsey

Romsey is a delightful market town bustling with activity from its theatre to its regular farmers' markets. Dominated by its wonderful Abbey, purchased from Henry the Eighth by its citizens for £100, the town leads down to the river Test with its salmon leap and water mill.

Romsey is the home of Broadlands, built by Palmerstone whose statue dominates the market square. The estate is now the residence of the Mountbatten family. Willow Bank Barn is in the grounds of what was the estate of Mottisfont Abbey, a charming National Trust property famed as the home of the Old English Rose Collection. Why not come and try your hand at falconry at the New Forest falconry centre where you can fly everything from an owl to an eagle.
