The Lazio region

The Lazio region is just in the middle of the Italian peninsula and it's where all the ancient italic civilization were born (Etruscans and Romans). Due to its history and nice climate it's an ideal place for tourism and holiday.

Rome is known worldwide for all the wonderful sites it offers; there is plenty to see and do here!

It's impossible to describe Rome in few lines. It's history as a city spans over two and a half thousand years, as one of the founding cities of Western Civilisation. It was the centre of the Roman Empire, which dominated Europe, North Africa and the Middle East for four hundred years from the 1st Century BC till the 4th Century AD.

Rome has a significant place in Christianity and is the present day home of the Roman Catholic Church and the site of the Vatican City, an independent city-state run by the Catholic Church as an enclave of Rome.

"Perfect stay outside of Rome"

A colleague and I stayed at Walter's lovely apartment for 6 weeks this summer. We arrived at midnight and Walter kindly let us in to the second floor apartment- one true bedroom, one extra large … More

"All good!"

I can't really say much other than it was an amazing place to stay. It came with everything I needed for my stay. Lots of room to the place and such an amazing location because you have the bus that leads to downtown nearby, an internet cafe which is a 5 minute walk and so many places for a great meal. I recommend "Jimmy's Pizza" which is just down Torrevechia going west.

The only problem I had with the apartment was the hollow floors. The floor was granite but there was very little to almost no sound isolation with the apartment and the floor above. I could hear the lady above walk every step in her high heels and I could hear them talk just above the normal level. It was extremely annoying, especially when they would wake up early in the morning and if you're not a heavy sleeper you will be able to hear everything they do in their room.

Other than that, awesome! Highly recommend it if you're staying in Rome, want to avoid tourists, and just enjoy yourself thoroughly. Everything nearby is cheap because it's local, so don't hesitate.

"Fantastic apartment just outside of central Rome"

We absolutely loved this apartment we spent a week here, and Walter was really helpful, telling us which buses to get, where the tobacconist was and some recommendations on local restaurants.
The area (although not at first glance) is fantastic, we arrived quite late on our first night and found a great little oriental restaurant just down the road (I have dietary restrictions and knew I'd be able to eat something there), but there were loads of other places open including a fantastic gelato place which we found out to be open until midnight at least! A couple of supermarkets (which have a great gluten free section in one!), café's hairdressers and tobacconist from which you can buy your travel tickets from (be aware the price has gone up to €1.50) are all located within a 2 min walk. You can get a bus from the same side as the tobacconist to Batistini train station (metro A) from which you can get to central Rome (I think buses 46 and 546), or get a bus the other way to an over ground station Mont Mario I think it was (bus 46 and 49 go there!). There is also a night bus which you can get from Termini N5 which stops at the bottom of the road which I great as other transport stops at midnight.
The apartment itself was great we had a balcony which we used extensively, bathroom had basics and was fine shower was a bit small (we kept hitting our elbows) but you get used to it! Kitchen had everything we needed plus more and we had a washing machine which was a nice touch. Big windows through the living room which makes it nice and bright. Its on the second floor of the building and there is a small lift, I didn't use it, it freaked me out but is great for luggage! The pull out bed and the opposite sofa were comfy and there was a huge dining table if you wanted to have a sit down dinner. We had enough space for everything and space to hang clothes, we were very surprised at how spacious the living area was!
Our only real let down was the main bedroom, the double mattress was not comfy (and seemed like it was balancing on two single bed frames) and the pull out bed we tried to use but were scared that we might break it cause it creaked when we tried! It also had a really odd smell which we couldn't get rid of! However as there were 3 of us we were quite happy using the living room as we were all there together! It could be a little noisy at night but we were normally so exhausted that it didnt really bother us however we could here the guys upstairs whho were quite noisy fairly early in the mornings which was a little annoying!
Overall we loved this apartment and would probably use it again; if the main bedroom could be sorted out we would probably come back as a bigger group!
