The Lazio region
Lazio is situated in the centre of Italy, between italian regions - Abruzzo, Toscana, Umbria, Molise and Campania. Today Lazio is composed of 5 provinces: Viterbo, Rieti, Rome, Frosinone and Latina. Lazio’s split-up history, rich in dizzy happenings and incredible differences finds explanation also in the physical differences of its territory: 20% is flat, 54% is hilly and 26% mountainous. Besides, Lazio is rich in lakes, volcanes (which are extinct fortunately), mountains higher than 2000 mt, flat and rocky coasts, and not to be unmindful of the marvellous isles of the Pontine archipelago, Ponza and Zannone at the top. Lazio lies in the centre of Italy and even all social and economic indicators seem to correspond to its physical position. Then, it is a joint-land between the North and the South of Italy under many aspects, with a remarkable peculiarity: it is the richest casket of cultural and environmental assets in the world - some universal examples are the Sistine Chapel, the Coliseum and the Roman Fori. If along the centuries the city on the Tiber gained the appellation of caput-mundi and eternal city, today it could not be nothing else but the heart of Lazio and the capital of the Italian State. But Rome can be considered twice capital, for being also the centre of catholic christianity and having inside of itself the Vatican State.
Rome / La Pisana area
There is so much to write about Rome, but the best way to know it is visiting it and above all feeling its atmosphere. Experience the ultimate combination of epic history, sublime gastronomy and fiery southern temperament. Visit, for example, the Forum Romanum, the Circus Maximus and the Colosseum, and the many beautiful and impressive churches, such as the Pantheon, the Vatican and magnificent Saint Peter's Basilica. When visiting Rome, it is practically obligatory to see the Spanish Steps and the beautiful Trevi fountain.
ATTICO AURELIA ANTICA is situated only 5 km from St. Peter's and the Vatican City, in a nice, safe, residential area called Aurelio, with all kinds of shops, 2 supermakets, an open-air market, bars and restaurants. This is in the western part of Rome, near the Janiculum and Villa Pamphili. By walking through this beautiful park you arrive to Trastevere. Nearby you can choose between 3 different swimmings pools, and Rome's biggest Water Fun Park is only a short busride away. Bus nr. 881 or 98 brings you directly to the historical centre of Rome. Nearest bus stop at 200 meters.
It's said that all roads lead to Rome but let me add that if you need a break from the hectic pace of the city, only 15 min away, they surely lead to Attico Aurelia Antica in Via dei Brusati 33!!!
How to get there
From Ciampino or Fiumicino airport: Special agreement can be arranged with a Limoservice, an English-speaking driver brings you to the apartment for €45 (a small extra if you need a larger car).
By car: From Grande Raccordo Anulare take Exit 1 and head towards "Roma Aurelio Città del Vaticano", turning right on Via Aurelia. After 2,5 km turn right: Largo Tommaso Perassi and continue along Via Aurelia Antica After 0,9 km turn right: Largo Don Luigi Guanella and immediately right again: Via del Fontanile Arenato After 0,7 km turn left: Via degli Alidosi and you'll find Via dei Brusati 33 just in front of you!
Public transport from Stazione Termini (main railway station): Bus H until the last stop Via Capasso or Metro A direction Battistini. Get off at Cornelia and take bus 892 to Largo Don Guanella.
The apartments are located less than 5 km from St. Peter's and the historical centre, and is easily reached bus bus 881 or 98. The nearest Metro A station is Cornelia/Baldo degli Ubaldi.

Further details outdoors: The exclusive terrace has got two dining/sitting areas, seating from 6 to 12 people, letting you choose between the sun or the shadow. Or perhaps you prefer lying down on the sunbeds, relaxing with a drink at the sunset after your hard tourist days in the centre? There is also a barbecue, if you feel like cooking outdoors.
Another beautiful 100sq m roof terrace is reserved for our guests.
On the built-in glass balcony outside the kitchen, there's a washer, clothes-horses, steam iron and ironing board, a vacuum cleaner and other cleaning equipment you might need, unless you want an arrangement with a cleaning woman.

Guestbook for Attico Aurelia Antica
"Stayed one week Oct./Nov. 2007 - this is just perfect when you wish to stay close to city without city sounds and noise. Week bus ticket card at Tabac, 3-4 min's to bus stop and 12-15 min's ride to the best part of old Rome (avoid peak hours). Anything (almost) within 15 min walk from terminus - and in this part of Rome, walking is the only way to travel for those who wish to SEE.
Locally in Pisana - good eating and friendly restaurants and shops for all needs in a busy, still quiet neighbour-hood where your hostess Hanne is just a minute away - if you need her. Do take advantage of her airport limo assistance - not expensive and absolutely faster than any public system.
Apartment is clean, well equipped, and with the terraces on two levels you may find sun or shade just as you desire. BIG beds - climate control (not noisy) - quiet at night and a green neighbourhood - this is the real Italy and Rome."
