Home description

A neat and quiet, recently refurbished apartment, located in a central area near historical Appian Way Archaeological Park.

The apartment is fully equipped and family run (by an anglophone family), with newly refinished air conditioned rooms and bathrooms which are en suite. It is near the aqueduct and a short walk to the Metro which will take you to the Spanish Steps and other major attractions in 12 minutes, avoiding crowded and slow buses.

One of the main advantages of the location is that it is near buses and an A-line Metro stop (Colli Albani). Since the A-line Metro connects all the tourist attractions from the Old Appian way to the Vatican, all the major sights are reached in a few minutes. The adjacent Via Appia Nuova is excellent for shopping.

The Lazio region

Still an undiscovered region of fascinating nature and environment.Latium is found in central Italy, located on the Tyrrhenian Sea. It borders on Tuscany, Marches, Umbria, Abruzzi, Campania and Molise. In general, Lazio has a mild climate thanks to the influence of the Mediterranean Sea., with an extraordinary variety of landscape: wide beaches, great pinewoods, mountains like Terminillo (an excellent ski resort), gentle hills and expansive plains.

A region rich in artistic monuments that bring to mind the long and extraordinary history of this region in the most immediate fashion. At Tarquinia, Cerveteri and Tuscania, necropolises and museums bear evidence of ancient and mysterious Etruscan people (seventh to sixth centuries B.C.) who ruled central Italy before the rise of Rome.

A pleasant small train leads the tourists along the huge necropolis of Banditaccia in Cerveteri. There are countless testimonies of the Roman and later historical eras outside Rome, in the other provinces of Latium and in the local centres: Rieti with its mountains and the Sabina area, the medieval Viterbo (city of the Popes) and la Tuscia area, Latina near the sea with the best cliffs and beaches in Latium, and Frosinone with Abbey of Montecassino and Sermoneta.

It is enough to think of the splendid and grandiose Villa Adriana in Tivoli (where the renaissance Villa d'Este can also be found), the seventeenth-century Palazzo Barberini in Palestrina, and the Cathedral in Anagni. The same grandiose style of the Roman religion seems to be projected and duplicated outside Rome: in the abbeys of Montecassino, Casamari, and Fossanova and in the monasteries of Subiaco, places dear to Saint Benedict of Norcia.

The hill towns of southern Lazio have retained their medieval character. Many towns continue their agricultural traditions, while others have capitalized on the mineral springs located nearby. Fiuggi is famous for its waters, which Pope Boniface VIII claimed cured his kidney stones. The baths of Pompey, located near Ferentino, are credited with curing rheumatism and breathing problems.

There are so many specialities also as food and wine to taste here in the Lazio region!
Viterbo is a good destination too. Its province offers a wealth of tourist attractions: the lovely Lakes Vico and Bolsena, splendid gardens at the Villa Lante, the grand palace at Caprarola, Etruscan remains at Tarquinia and Vulci, thermal springs and famous wine.

Rome / Central Rome area

Rome has been the top tourist destination in Europe for centuries, with good reason.

The surroundings have many typical shops and restaurants (trattoria) frequented by the local people. Immerse yourself in the true Roman lifestyle.

Very near the apartment is the area is called "Parco Appia Antica" for the archaeological park of the ancient Appian Way, one of the first roads built by the Romans to connect Rome with the south. (The Appia Antica park is a great place for walks among the ancient ruins.)

Day trips from the city include Ostia Antica, the ancient Roman port; Cerveteri where you can see Etruscan tombs; Tivoli, 15 kms from Rome you can visit Villa Adriana and Villa D'Este with its famous fountains. Castelli Romani are famous for the wine production.
