The Lazio region
As you may see here above, on the map, your home in Rome with ADSL and WI FI lies only a few blocks South of the Colosseum, you may google map it: Via Licia, 00183 Rome, Italy. The street number is not given here for security.
LATIUM is the region of central western Italy in which the city of Rome was founded and grew to be the capital city of the Roman Empire. Latium was originally a small triangle of fertile, volcanic soil on which resided the tribe of the Latins. It was located on the left bank (east and south) of the Tiber river, extending northward to the Anio river (a left-bank tributary of the Tiber) and southeastward to the Pomptina Palus (Pontine Marshes, now the Pontine Fields) as far south as the Circeian promontory. The right bank of the Tiber was occupied by the Etruscan city of Veii, and the other borders were occupied by Italic tribes. Subsequently Rome defeated Veii and then its Italic neighbors, expanding Latium to the Apennine Mountains in the northeast and to the opposite end of the marsh in the southeast. The modern descendant, the Italian Regione of Lazio, also called Latium in Latin, and occasionally in modern English, is somewhat larger still, but not as much as double the original Latium.
The ancient language of the Latins, the tribesmen who occupied Latium, was to become the immediate predecessor of the Old Latin language, ancestor of Latin and the Romance languages. Latium has played an important role in history owing to its status as the host of the capital city of Rome, at one time the cultural and political center of the Roman Empire. Consequently, Latium is home to celebrated works of art and architecture.
Via Licia is just 600 yards South from the Coliseum towards Porta Metronia. Historical archaeological sites of ancient, medieval, renaissance and modern Rome are just a short walk away, as well. The international airport of Fiumicino is 40 minutes away by train and 30 minutes away by taxi; airport pickup is available vs. a fee of €60.00. The area is quiet and has many supermarkets, eateries, daily fresh produce market making it an ideal destination for families and experienced travelers alike.
Near the Baths of Caracalla, exactly 800 yds. from the Coliseum on the sixth floor of a renovated building, lies a warm, finely appointed, ideally located spot to call 'home' as you enjoy the fabled beauty and history of Rome. Freshly refurbished and graced with soft neutral tones and natural materials like tile and granite, this 60-square-meter flat is elegant and modern, with a touch of the 1940s. Twin beds in the bedroom can be pulled together to form a double bed, if desired. The AC flat accommodates two to three comfortably; a comfortable queen-size sofa bed sleeps 1 in the living room. Wi FI and ADSL are free of charge.
The historical archaeological sites of ancient, medieval, renaissance and modern Rome are but a short walk away — as are: San Giovanni Underground; Basilica St. John in Lateran; St. John's Hospital; Circus Maximus; Baths of Caracalla; Appian Way; Villa Celimontana, a large green park with jazz cafe in summer; museums, etc.
Lovely strolls on the many green parks that surround via Licia, the Ancient Appian Way, Porta San Sebastiano, the Museum of the Walls, the Ancient Appian Way and her many ruins and historical monuments, all within walking distance of your home in Rome.

"Comfortable and convenient, great place to stay"
We used the apartment as our base for a week seeing Rome, partly with guided tours and partly exploring on our own. It was very comfortable, with all the facilities we needed. Margherita made us feel really welcome and was charming and very helpful. The apartment is quite convenient to the bus and train. We really enjoyed our stay - Rome is marvellous - and can recommend this apartment.
Glad you had good time and felt at home in this very centrally located, quiet and well-connected apartment, within walking distance of main attractions and monuments (Colosseum, Forum, etc.) You are always welcome!

"Everything was o.k."
The appartment was clean and well equipped. We cooked several times. The owner gave a friendly welcome and informed us about the flat and also the environment (shops, restaurants etc.). In the flat were advices about bus lines to the important places of Rome. Bus stops are nearby, the Colosseum is 15 minutes to walk. When we had further questions, we got help by the owner. We had a nice time in Rome and have already recommended this flat to our friends.
Glad you enjoyed cooking at the fully equipped kitchen and found it easy to reach the main sights as per our bus and other instructiosn!

"Very fine place and host!"
Mrs Durando is a very nice and friendly woman, who explains all very well. We received a very warm welcome! Her appartment is very nice, very clean and quiet, very convenient (and there is a lift). The surrounding area is actually very nice; there is a food market open each morning not far, a very good restaurant not expensive (with delicious pasta!), a Carrefour big shop near to the house, and several small coffee shops around with great coffee and delicious pastries. The appartment is not far from the metro and buses to the city centre. Sure, I will come back there next time at Roma!
Glad you enjoyed the nice, clean and quiet apartment as well as the surrounding area with market, supermarket, sights and shops within walking distance! We also recommend you as the perfect guests!
