Description: If your dream is to experience the Rome of the movies this is the place for you. Impressive monuments, historical churches, art and luxury combine for the ultimate experience and unforgettable holiday in the eternal city. During the classical era, the Campo Marzio was a modestly-sized area in the centre of Rome dedicated to the great god Mars and with an important public function as the training area for soldiers, and the location of foreign ambassadors and military meetings. Over the years the appearance of the city and its buildings has gradually changed; today the rione Campo Marzio is one of the most central districts where you will find famous monuments such as the Ara Pacis that majestically looks over the River Tiber, the church Santissima Trinità dei Monti and the famous staircase that leads down to the square the Piazza di Spagna, the Mausoleo de Augusto (mausoleum), the Piazza del Popolo with its famous obelisk and the Santa Maria del Popolo Basilica that houses the works of artists such as Raffaello, Bernini and Caravaggio, and the Pincio terrace, a wonderful location from which to admire the eternal city panorama. This district is famous for being home to the world's famous monuments as well as being the best area for luxury shopping. Via dei Condotti is one of the most famous streets in the city and attracts thousands of visitors to its Italian and foreign designer fashion stores. Another famous street is the Via del Corso, leading up to the Piazza del Popolo, as well as the Via di Ripetta, Via del Babbuino and Via Margutta. This narrow little street is full of craft workshops and nowadays is the location of many art galleries and designer restaurants. In the fifties, the film Roman Holiday suddenly converted the district into a highly exclusive area. Director Federico Fellini actually lived in this very street. Right in the centre of town, the area is a perfect location to move around on foot, and offers all kinds of services such as bars, restaurants, shops and book shops as well as different forms of transport. The nearest metro stops are Spagna, the train station is Flaminio connecting to the north of Rome, and the bus and tram terminal is located alongside the Piazzale Flaminio.
