“Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears ;I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him….” Here, in the Roman Forum, Marcus Antonius said the famous funeral laudation in honour of Julius Caesar as written by Shakespeare.
During the age of the Seven Roman Kings, before of the constitution of the Forum, this area was just a marshy land.
It was subject of an extensive reclamation work performed by the earliest inhabitants of the Seven Hills of Rome.
At first the Forum was a market place and a site for public meetings. Afterwards, the Imperial Fora became the centre of Roman public life. They represented the administrative, political and religious core of Rome.
Rome has been for centuries the city of impressive monuments (the Colosseum, the Saint Peter's Basilica, the Capitoline Hill, all its beautiful churches) and picturesque streets (like the alleys in the historical Trastevere district). The sight of its charming sunsets, surrounded by the Seven Hills, seen from its delightful bridges represents an unforgettable and unique experience. This is Rome.
Rome is also the breathtaking view of the Castes and the city centre from a terrace in the green area of Città Giardino (established by an English man in the middle of the 19th century), surrounded by an unspoilt vegetation, very close to the historical “Ponte Tazio” bridge.
Rome is the luxury of a modern and elegant area (called Vignaclara), close to the Olympic Stadium, the Auditorium, the Valle Giulia's museums and the famous Milvian Bridge which played an important role in the history of Rome.
