The Lazio region

Lazio’s history is linked to Rome, however, it was the homeland of populations that left behind significant reminders. The Etruscans, Sabines, Volsci. Latins were the populations that inhabited and moulded the region over the centuries, they also given the region its name. The Etruscan presence was significant and can still be recalled today, mainly through the large necropolises of Tarquinia and Cerveteri. While in the southern part of the region we can find traces of the Volsci, Hernici, Aequi and Aurunci populations who were the protagonists of major conflicts against the Roman rule.

A description of Rome involves much more than just talking about a city. "She" is the most beautiful place, the unique one where time alternates between past glories and present-day modernity. The seven hills which gave birth to the eternal city welcome visitors to a location offering museums, monuments, historical residences, parks and buildings – the custodians of an age-old civilisation.

Roma possesses one of the most important artistic and historical heritages in the world, considered a world heritage site by UNESCO and a favourite destination for many tourists. Indeed, a stroll through the capital’s streets is an experience to leave you speechless. Amidst the many squares, fountains, ruins and churches, it is easy to stumble across masterpieces by past artists such as Michelangelo, Bernini, Raphael, Caravaggio, Borromini and countless others that helped turn this city into a genuine centre of culture at a global level.

There is no lack of entertainment and pastimes; you can find something to please everyone: exhibitions, shows, events of all kinds and for all budgets. The capital is no disappointment in the culinary stakes either, with its famous osterie serving traditional Roman fare to delight everyone’s taste buds. There’s only one thing to do .... visit the eternal city.
