The Lazio region
Lazio’s cultural and artistic heritage is enormous and, together with the beautiful landscape, make this one of the most popular destinations for tourists from all over the world. Other than the capital, Rome, visited by thousands of tourists every year, just outside the city there are many interesting archeological places (e.g. Cerveteri Etruscan Necropolis, Ostia Antica excations, Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este in Tivoli) as well as important bathing resorts are Gaeta, Anzio, Sabaudia, San felice al Circeo and Terracina; the most famous thermal baths are in Fiuggi.
The Circeo National Park and part of the Abruzzo National Park are in Lazio. Most cooking recipes are traditional ‘common folk’ recipes and include dishes such as bucatini all’amatriciana and alla carbonara (long pasta with bacon and tomato sauce or with bacon and eggs, respectively). Famous cakes are maccheroni alla noci and Easter cake. Twenty four DOC wines are produced in Lazio, including the famous Frascati superiore and Est! Est! Est! of Montefiascone as well as the Moscato.
They say Rome must be visited at least once in a lifetime. Lots of visitors, though, once they see the beauty and the charm of this city, struggle to find it anywhere else and feel the necessity to come more and more often. If it is your first time in Italy, this house will give you the chance to easily adapt to the Roman style. You can enjoy the quaintness of the area with its daily market, the local shops and cafes, the big equipped park and the dynamic square where gather together both the elder people and the younger ones. All the tourist attractions are within short distance (eg St. Peter 10 mins by bus).
If you are a Rome veteran, instead, you can grasp the opportunity to discover new areas in and around Rome by public transport (main tube/buses/coaches station 5 mins from the house) or hiring a car (private parking available, inquire for rates).
Rome is one of the most famous city in the world for its artistic and historical heritage, heir of a millennium tradition, gives to visitors some of the biggest artistic treasures. You can choose among many different itineraries through the ancient or modern Rome, loosing yourselves in museums, monuments, galleries, catacombs, international exhibition and events. You can have a taste of the fervent artistic life either in the brand new Auditorium or in the ancient Teatro dell'Opera.
Anywhere in Rome, you will find a wide range of restaurants, pubs, taverne, clubs. Some of them with stunning views of the city. Rome has endless archaeological site, both in the centre (Foro Romano) and just outside the city (e.g. Cerveteri Etruscan Necropolis, Ostia Antica excations, Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este in Tivoli).
On the small picturesque square, where the house is located, every morning you'll find a fruit and vegetables market, 2 different typical cafè, a supermarket and a ancient and famous bakery called "Buccilli". In addition, there is a well-known 24/7 patisserie. Nearby the house, there are internet points, hairdressers, post office, another big market, news agents. The house is 2 mins walk from a big equipped park, Pineta Sacchetti were you can go jogging or walking, relax under the pines and enjoy the view of S.Peter dome. There are also some fitness facilities and kids areas.

"Comfy Stay with Helpful Owners"
I stayed in Domus Venere last week with my Husband and Mother in Law and am so pleased that we booked this flat. It's away from the hustle-and-bustle of Rome city centre and all of it's tourist spots, but still very easy to get in to town. We were warmly greeted and given all the information we would need to be able to navigate the area successfully and any questions we had during the trip were promptly answered. If you would like a comfy and clean place with reliable local info, pick this flat!

"Spacious, comfortable and relaxing Domus on Rome's doorstep with plenty of local amenities."
Everything the friendly owners say about this Domus is quite true; it is a lovely base from which to enjoy the wonderful sights and experiences Rome has to offer and they are on hand to help you from the very start. They even left us fresh croissants every morning. We especially liked the covered terrace where we could eat alfresco. There is a nice cafe and an ice-cream parlor almost on the doorstep too; both of which we made frequent use of. The only small downside would be if you wanted to do a lot of home cooking during your stay, as the cooker was very basic with no grill and there were not many pots and pans etc. But with 2 pizzarias and local restaurants, ( we had 2 good meals in Shardana), who needs to cook on holiday right! The small supermarket, just 4 mins walk away, was also well stocked and right opposite the bus stop. Buses are frequent and just 3 stops takes you to the metro, which is a few stops from the heart of the city, or the 49 takes you all the way to the Vatican. If you want a top class meal with excelent service but without paying over the odds, we recommend Edy's in Vicolo del Babuino, near the Spanish steps. We would definitely stay here again if we ever decide to return to Rome.

"Much better than sterile hotel room"
This is a delightful Italian apartment set within a secure gated area. The immediate local facilities provide for all one needs on a self catering break. The apartment is spacious and well equipped but do not expect all modern fittings. This adds to the character of the apartment, rather than detracts. The provision of fresh pastries left outside the door each morning was a lovely gesture and much appreciated.Although further from the centre than expected this did not prove an issue. Public transport is plentiful and access to the sights was very straightforward from the nearby bus-stop. Communication with the owners from initial booking to arrival was easy and any queries received a prompt response. We took advantage of the offer of return airport transfers which made our arrival and departure so much easier. Although there are stairs to the apartment this should not be a problem to older guests who are physically fit. Our overall experience was excellent and would love to return at some future date.

"Highly recommended apartment"
Absolutely gorgeous apartment full of beautiful furniture and books. Owners were extremely helpful and available for information, directions etc at all times. They provided a welcome basket of food and wine and also pastries when we were leaving. Great pizzeria just around the corner for when you're too tired to go back into the city after a long day sightseeing. Also, a fab patisserie just down the road. Only drawback, but a minor one, was distance to city centre. We didn't mind having to take the bus or walk after getting off the metro but those who prefer to be in the centre of things might find it a bit far.
