Here in these places there was the famous Lorium: Lorium was a town located on the Via Aurelia, near present-day Castel di Guido (in the sixteenth district of Rome). The town was first mentioned in Peutingeriana as a post office on the way to his twelfth mile from Rome.

There was a villa built by the emperor Antoninus Pius, who died there in 161 [1] and in which he resided also Hadrian and Marcus Aurelius.

Another important reason to come and visit you:

The field of the Polledrara, identified in 1984, is one of the richest paleontological deposits exist. The site is located on the slopes of the volcanic devices Sabatino, about 20 km northwest of Rome and the share of 83 m above sea level.

A 900 square meter museum protects a vast area of the reservoir. Inside the visitor through a suspended walkway can visit the archaeological excavation which includes a stretch of the river bed is the area to the marshy environment, in which it holds numerous faunal remains. The bed of the river is about 35-40 meters in width and 1.5 in depth.

The discovery of numerous fossil remains for the most part attributable to the Elephant and the ancient primitive Ox allowed to assume an intense human and animal presence in the marsh. In particular, it has been unearthed the skeleton of an elephant trapped in the mud, between the vertebrae which was found the skull of a wolf. Associated with faunal remains were collected over 500 stone tools made of small pebbles of chert and siliceous limestone, not belonging fluvial-marshy environment of the reservoir and then certainly transported by man.
