The Lazio region

Lazio is the main italian region, is where Rome, the capital is situated.

TO BE SEEN:

The Palatine, Roman Forum, Domus Aurea, Arch of Constatine, House of Augustus, House of Livia

120At the end of the Republican Age, when Rome had become the capital of a vast empire stretching from Gaul to Asia Minor, the old Roman Forum proved to be too cramped to efficiently serve as the city’s administrative and monumental centre, to be the very hub of public life.

Rome

Here is where these apartments are located. 196It may be two thousand years old but the Colosseum is still the symbol of the eternal city, every year drawing thousands of visitors, meaning long queues and an endless wait.

In order to avoid the problem, a ticket may be purchased in advance through the tourist contact centre, by phoning 060608 or visiting the website www.pierreci.it.

…Or alternatively by buying one of two tourist cards: the “Roma Pass” which is valid for three days and entitles holders to free admission and no-queue entrance for the first two museums and to free travel throughout Rome, or the “Archeologia Card” which is valid for 7 days and allows free entry into each of the following sites: Palazzo Massimo, Palazzo Altemps, Crypta Balbi, Terme di Diocleziano (Baths of Diocletian), the Colosseum, the Palatine, Terme di Caracalla (Caracalla Baths), Villa dei Quintili, Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella.

In 54 B.C., Julius Caesar was the first to come up with another square, originally intended as merely a straightforward extension of the Republican Forum. Caesar’s Forum was followed by Augustus’, then the Transitional (built by the Emperor Domitian and inaugurated by the Emperor Nerva) and, finally, Trajan’s Forum, which is undoubtedly the grandest. Together, the archaeological sites make up, from an urban standpoint, an organic complex renamed in the modern era the “Imperial Forums”, reaching from Capitol Hill (Campidoglio) to the foot of the Quirinale Hill.

Between 1924 and 1932, the Imperial Forums resurfaced following the demolition of which had been over the centuries built on top so as to clear the way for today’s Via dei Fori Imperiali.

"Very nice appartment in great location, if a little noisy"

The location was excellent for getting to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill/Roman Forum etc - also close to bus stops, the Metro and restaurants. The apartment itself is very clean with pretty much everyth… More

first of all i wish to thank Grant for his stay and for the nice words expended for my apartment which i try to improve everyday taking a good care of it and of my guests. As it is said on my properties detail, cleaness is my priority and i can proudly recognize that my apartments are all very very clean and perfectly located in the heart of Rome and i am very glad that all of my guests recognize those things. Concerning noises i would like to remind to all of my guests that the building my apartment is situated in is located in a very central street, just a few steps from the Coliseum, trafic and noises are unfortunatly "loved/hated" prerogatives of all the big cities of the world..Paris, London, Madrid and New York are the same..so when the front door is open(when the porter is on duty the front door is always open) it is possible that some noise can be heard but as i said it is a normal thing for a big city..and so it is concerning people talking louder in a central building lived by 120 other families..to solve the "problem", for all those people who don't like to hear any noise, keeping the door and window closed or renting a place in the country side of the city might be a suggested solution..but do not complain then whether you will take one hour to get the centre!! So as i always say, Rome is all those things...mess, trafic, good food, history and genuine people talking louder..and maybe this is the reason why bilions people love my city!

"Location and host first rate!"

Salvatore was incredibly helpful and efficient from the moment we first made contact. He answered emails very promptly and was very thorough in his introduction to the apartment and to the local attractions. The apartment was very peaceful, despite being just a stones throw from the Colisseum and busy area. The apartment is surrounded by shops and there are plenty of places to eat, get supplies and wander. We loved walking out of our apartment and seeing the Colisseum - beautiful.

"Very convenient and safe."

This first floor apartment is very close to the Colosseum, historic district and convenient for the metro system. Beds were great, two full bathrooms and a small neat kitchen made our stay easy and enjoyable. We found a small market, WIFI cafe and restaurants within quick walking distance, too.

Our host made a point of communicating clearly via email before our stay and greeted us promptly at our arranged time - making all necessary arrangements. I found this very reassuring as I am not a frequent traveler. I only wish we had two sets of keys for all of us to come and go with greater ease.

I would definitely recommend this one!

first of all i wish to thank you for staying in my apartment and i am very glad that you had a great stay and apreciated my efforts to make your stay a great holiday..the satisfaction of my guests is the most important thing for me. Concerning the key i would have surely provided to furnish you a second or a third one if you had only asked me for that.

"Great location, great apartment!"

The location of the apartment is fantastic - everything you want to see is within walking distance. The apartment itself is a nice size and was perfect for traveling with my husband and young boys - spacious enough for us and being on the first floor was a bonus as no major stairs to worry about. And, since the apartment is off of an inner courtyard, it was very quiet. Salvatore was quite helpful and we really enjoyed our experience in Rome.

"Close enough for the excitement, Far enough for the peace"

This wonderful apartment could not be in a more perfect. Even its exterior radiates excellence with its grand wooden double door entrance and view of the fantastic Colosseum merely down the road. The interior is a modern, well-decorated space with a classic italian feel, only accented by the quaint private courtyard outside the front window.

With only a 2 minute walk to the heart of Rome's mass of architectural beauty, it makes this apartment close enough for the excitement, but far enough for the peace.

Although the marketing leaflets are brilliant, they really do not do this accomodation justice.
