The Lazio region

Lazio is the region around Rome. With endless attractions, a unique cultural heritage and the incomparable charm of the Eternal City, this region can be visited at any time of the year. In one week you can see most of the major attraction of Rome and in one day trip you can easily visit.

- The Etruscan cities of Tarquinia, Cerveteri and Tuscania and their incredible necropolises are not to be missed. Also Bracciano it’s an amazing place with wonderful lake a typical restaurants (only 1 hour trip by train from San Pietro Station). Civitavecchia line.

-Among the villas, we recommend you visit Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola and the “Park of Monsters” in Bomarzo. Viterbo line.

The train station of Roma San Pietro is located 1.5 Km from Angels Gate. Here there are different trains that connect to the most beautiful tourist destinations in Lazio Region such us Bracciano, Cesano, Civitavecchia, Grosseto, Rome, Viterbo. Every 15 minutes trains go to Rome Ostiense (archaeological centre of Rome) and Rome Trastevere (Porta Portese Market on Sunday morning and Trastevere area full of history). A train every 30 minutes goes to Bracciano, Civitavecchia and a train every hour goes to Grosseto and Viterbo.

Rome

Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire and actually it is the centre of Christianity and capital of Italy. Angel’s Gate is located few meters from the Vatican City, in the historical centre of Rome. Every time of the year you will be part of festivals such us Traditional Festival (Christmas, Easter and Vatican Special Event), Carnival, Music (jazz Festival) Cinema and much more. We love to walk around and enjoy the market nearby, the shops with colorful windows and the garden of Sant’Angelo Castle.

During the year in Risorgimento Square, only 200 mt away from Angels Gate, there are nice festivals about music and art. From this square begins the road to arrive to San Peter Dome. Going all the way through, you will see the main entrance of Vatican City with the Swiss guards standing in front. This is a touristic area , that's why many people speak English, and residential people are nice and polite with tourist. We are all proud to live in this part of Rome that is fully served, safe and clean.

During the night we love to walk in Borgo Pio, a pedestrian area, just down the apartment where you can see old small house all around and try the feeling to walk free without cars around. From the main street of Borgo you can see the Passetto, (passage away) an elevated road built to connect the Vatican with Castel Sant'Angelo.

"Fantastic Location, Great Views, Lovely Apartment"

We stayed at the Angel's Gate for 6 days at the end of Sept 2012 and enjoyed every minute of it. The two best features of this apartment: 1. the location and 2. the terrace overlooking the Vaticano district and Saint Peters.

The apartment is well-equiped and clean. For two people there was more than enough space, although the bathrooms are small and the kitchen minimalistic. The main bedroom is in the back facing a small side street and away from the apartment entrance, so although you're right in the middle of things it was quiet and comfortable for sleeping. There's an elevator up to the top floor, where the apartment is location, so getting to it is a breeze. If we ever get back to Rome, we'll be sure to stay there.

"Well be back!!"

Our hosts - Alessia & Giampaolo were very friendly and so helpful, the literature and maps they provided made it simple to get around (without getting lost!!). The apartment was big enough for 3 and we spent most of our time either out or on the terrace which had amazing views of the Vatican and from the rear of the apartment we looked onto Castell St Angelo. There was a supermarket close by and a large selection of restaurants just around the corner. We came away with good memories and will definitely be returning.

"Great apartment in fantastic location!"

I stayed for 4 nights here in September. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly during check-in, showing us everything in the apartment and offering lots of useful tourist information. The apartment itself was spacious and very clean (and well stocked with everything you would need). The terrace offered a fanastic view of St. Peter's Basilica, which was amazing at night. The location was very central, only a 5 minute walk from the Vatican and about 8 minutes to the nearest metro. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in Rome!
