In epoca antica, si intendeva per Latium il territorio compreso tra il basso corso del fiume Tevere e i Monti Ausoni, nei pressi di Terracina, e gli Appennini come limite orientale.
In 1st century AD, Piazza Navona was built on the site of the Stadium of Domitiano and follows the form of the open space of the stadium.
The ancient Romans came there to watch the agones ("games"), and hence it was known as 'Circus Agonalis' (competition arena).
From piazza Venezia you walk along short via del Plebiscito, to arrive in Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
On the left, Palazzo Venezia and Chiesa del Gesù; on the right Palazzo Bonaparte, Palazzo Doria, with its elegant Baroque facade, Palazzo Lante Grazioli, of Baroque taste and Palazzo Altieri.
You arrive in this way at Chiesa del Gesù, parhaps the most magnificent Church of the Chistianity, mother Church of Jesuits and prototype of all Churches celebrating the triumph of Cathlic faith.
From Chiesa del Gesù starts Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
After few metres Largo Argentina and few steps, on the left Palazzo Vidoni, whose main facade, attributed to Raffaello, is, in its back side, in Via del Sudario.
Nearby seventeenth-century's Church of Sant'Andrea della Valle, another one of the most sumptuous Church Baroque of Rome, with its high cupola, like Saint Peter's Basilica.
Walking on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, on the right Palazzo Massimo, chef d'heuvre of Baldassarre Peruzzi, next Palazzo Massimo, there is Chiesa di San Pantaleo, with its neoclassic facade of Valadier and Palazzo Braschi, famous espacially for its statue of Pasquino, remains of a hellenisitic grouped of the leaning against to one of its corners.
On the other side of Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the little Farnesina, designed by Antonio da Sangallo il Giovane and at the bottom of Via dei Baulari, real royal palace of Renaissance, Palazzo Farnese, the most famous, magnificent and aristocrat of roman Palaces of the sixteenth century.
Not far from Palazzo Farnese. on the left, in the little, grim Piazza Capo di Ferro, Palazzo Spada with its very rich faced and with its generous court, where have seat Consiglio di Stato and Galleria Spada.
Coming back to Piazza di Campo dei Fiori, on the left we can observe the superb Palazzo della Cancelleria, one of the most original expression of civil architecture of the fifth century.

"Wonderfully situated apartment in Roma"
We really enjoyed our stay in Paola's apartment. Paola was very helpful and even let us have a late check out which was so good as we were flying at nearly midnight with a toddler! The apartment itself is perfectly situated, we were in walking distance to everything and there was a super cute cafe for breakfast just around the corner (called Coromandel). As you are staying in central Rome, there is a solid amount of noise from the bars at night from if you are a super light sleeper then maybe you would find that irritating. It is also very lovely inside, light filled and cool during the day, and it feels very private. Bed was very comfortable. Wifi was very fast! Unfortunately due to the stairs this apartment would not be accessible for people with impaired mobility. In short, a wonderful stay! Definitely recommend. Thanks so much Paola.

"Lovely flat for an authentic Roman experience"
We had a great stay here! The flat was clean and comfortable in a nice area and walking distance to several sites. It was also well equipped for cooking in. Paola was great, very reliable and helpful. She let me store my luggage late on the checkout day. Would definitely recommend!

"Spacious, quality apartment in a fantastic location"
Apartment is in excellent condition with full facilities including separate kitchen and bathroom. Main room was beautiful with high beamed ceilings. We were met on arrival by Paola who was very helpful, she even found us somewhere to store our luggage on the last day as we were leaving late in the evening. The apartment is really well located, near to bars, restaurants, shops and we walked to all the major attractions within 15 minutes.

This apartment was just what me and my boyfriend wanted! We wanted more room than a hotel could offer in a great location. The apartment is beautiful and full of little touches that Paola, the very helpful owner, has added - including books, cushions, beautiful high beam roof and ingredients for an Italian pasta! It is very homey and decorated lovely. It was very comfortable and lovely to chill out in the evenings before dinner. Paola was very helpful in the lead up to our stay answering our questions over a few e-mails. The location is fantastic! Just off Piazza Navona. We walked everywhere including the Vatican and Colloseum. Great bars and restaurants all around the little side streets. I would recommend this apartment to my friends and family! And can't wait to come back to it.
