This street is truly in the center of historical Rome and has for centuries gone through Campo de' Fiori directly into the Jewish Ghetto. The Palazzo Farnese (currently the French Embassy), one of Rome's greatest Renaissance palaces dating to 1514, is just around the corner with its magnificent piazza and twin fountains, enormous granite baths taken from the Terme di Caracalla. Around the corner is the Via Giulia one of the famous antique venues in the world. The Piazza Navona, one of the most visited piazzas in Rome, is across the street. St Peter's is a short 10 minute walk away. Many other historical tourist sites such the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and the Coliseum are all within a reasonable walking distance and public transportation is readily available on Corso Vittorio Emanuele and at Largo Argentina to all sections of Rome. During the morning the Campo de' Fiori is the scene of a centuries old open air market selling all the Italian ingredients one needs for preparing true Italian dishes. A special treat is the pizza bianca freshly made at the "forno" in the piazza. There are many other shops such as the famous Roscioli bakery, a supermarket, pharmacies, restaurants and banks in this lively area. In the evening Campo de' Fiori becomes a thriving center of night life with restaurants, pizzerias, wine bars and shops. The restaurant Ditirambo, which is around the corner from the Piazza della Cancelleria, serves typical regional Italian dishes.

The Lazio region

Traditionally, Rome was built on seven hills, the names of which were lost over the passing of time, leaving historians slightly in doubt. However the city’s ancient heart is comprised of the historical seven hills: Palatine, Aventine, Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, Esquiline and Caelian.

"A good choice"

The apartment was a very good choice. Everything ist so near, that you can walk within few minutes. The best thing is, that the market ist only a few metres away, so you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and other things during the morning. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and our host was very friendly and helpful. The only thing you should consider is, that the neighbourhood is real Roman, so sometimes neighbours have to do something during the night or have to talk loudly in the evening. It's really the center of the city!

"Home from home in Rome"

This is a wonderful little apartment to stay for a four day break in Rome. It is perfectly situated for all the sightseeing/shopping/eating you could possibly fit in! We never seemed to be further than about 10-15 mins walk away from everything. It was very clean, nicely decorated, was well equipped, and had a super comfy bed! There are lots of nice restaurants a 'stone's throw away', and there's even a perfect bakery to 'grab breakfast' just off the Campo de' Fiori square.
