The Lazio region

The Vatican area has a unique charm thanks to the majesty of Saint Peter's Square with its popular Cathedral, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel which each year attract tourists and pilgrims from all over the world. The Vatican was built on the place where Saint Peter was tortured and buried. Nearby is the famous Saint Peter's designed by Bernini. Also of course there is the Tiber and the Castel S'Angelo, made even more famous by Puccini's opera, 'Tosca'.

The Rome / Vaticano area

The apartment is in a quiet area a few minutes walk from Via Gregorio VII, a street full of shops, restaurants, pharmacies and any other facility that the visitor might need. There is also, in the next street, a supermarket which is open seven days a week. There is also an interesting local open-air market in the same Via Gregorio VII, particularly good for purchasing local food, wines, etc, at economic prices.

The apartment is very well situated , very close to the Vatican and other famous sites. Fiumicino International Airport is 30 kilometres away, as is Rome 's other airport, Ciampino,. Both are well - connected, by limousine, by taxi, bus , or railway.

29/3/2008 - Ciao Silvia, We had a super week in Rome. The weather was wonderful and I got to do many things that I had not done on my previous visits. The apartment was comfortable and cosy and very well- stocked. Rome remains the most interesting city in the world but we were disappointed with the graffiti everywhere and the number of street hawkers.Thanks to your sisters for their warm welcome.
