The Lazio region
The Vatican area has a unique charm thanks to the majesty of Saint Peter's Square with its popular Cathedral, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel which each year attract tourists and pilgrims from all over the world. The Vatican was built on the place where Saint Peter was tortured and buried. Nearby is the famous Saint Peter's designed by Bernini. Also of course there is the Tiber and the Castel S'Angelo, made even more famous by Puccini's opera, 'Tosca'.
The apartment is in a quiet area a few minutes walk from Via Gregorio VII, a street full of shops, restaurants, pharmacies and any other facility that the visitor might need. There is also, in the next street, a supermarket which is open seven days a week. There is also an interesting local open-air market in the same Via Gregorio VII, particularly good for purchasing local food, wines, etc, at economic prices.

"nice apartment for 2"
The owner was very helpful and replied promptly to emails and the studio apartment was clean and tidy. The location is very quiet yet there is bus/train nearby if needed. Very close to Vatican but in a residential neighbourhood with supermarket.

"Neat Apartment 10 minutes from the Vatican + with all travel options available"
The Apartment is just as it looks in the photos; it is on the 4th floor of the building, but there is a lift. The (lady) owner is as efficient and accommodating as possible, as well as being very helpful with local information. Siliva was also very easy to contact at all times.
My 10 year old granddaughter and I felt very safe there and were very comfortable.
The Apartment is large enough for a small family, or up to 4 (very good) friends.
The Apartment is about 100 paces from San Pietro station, and therefore has very easy access to the railway network ... it is also close to major bus routes throughout the city. We found the train journey to Fiumicino Airport very easy, and used the Metro extensively.
The 64 bus stops outside the (other side) of San Pietro station and this can take you right through the city to Termini; the 571 bus stops down on the main road and goes through to the Colosseum; the 116 stops by the Vatican City (which is a 10 minute walk away, or you can use bus 64) and this goes through old Rome all the way to the Villa Borghese.
There is a supermarket about 15 minutes walk away; and a pleasant bar/restaurant about 50 paces down from the Apartment (towards the station). The cafe is the train station is small but v good (Anna is lovely and makes great coffee!).
Now that I have found this Apartment I intend to book it again upon any re-visit to Rome.
I would recommend Chez Silvia to anyone looking for economical but clean and comprehensive accommodation in the area.
THANK YOU TO SILIVA AND BARBARA FOR HELPING US ENJOY A GREAT STAY.

"A Truly Rome Experience."
Small but sweet studio in a residential area and very convenient for the transport links by train and bus.Useful lift. The studio was spotlessly clean and pleasantly decorated and having the balcony area was a bonus. Also the kingsize bed was so comfortable which was welcome after a long day sightseing. Although residential it was a very quiet area and we enjoyed feeling part of the ordinary Rome life.Silvia and her family were very helpful and informative before and during our stay. Easy walks to all the sights and Toni's bar at the end of the street is a must.Train back to Fiumcino airport was very easy from San Pietro. A wonderful holiday. Will be back next year

"A delightful studio, well equipped and perfectly located."
On arrival we were delighted to find a brightly decorated studio with a balcony opening on to green space with birdsong. We were met by Silvia's representative who gave us the key and explained details. Breakfast supplies consisted of bread, croissants, milk, coffee and tea. There was a full range of cooking essentials such as oil and salt etc.Everything was clean. It is in an excellent location easily accessible from San Pietro station provided you exit the station from the side opposite the station building.

"Great clean apartment, ideally situated, fantastic service and little extras"
We stayed in the lovely apartment for 6 nights from 13th March. Great personal service from the time of booking. Emails from Silvia to help you plan your stay, from clear info on how to get to the apartment to helpful advise on what to see and do whilst in Rome.
We were met by the friendly Barbara, Silvia's sister, to give us the keys and to show us around the apartment. The apartment is good size for 2 people and is very well equipped should you wish to prepare food yourself rather than eating out all of your trip. It also has a lovely feel to it, so you dont feel like you have to be out 23 1/2 hours a day like you do in some hotel rooms. We found it to be very clean and well looked after. The balcony is nice to sit out for your morning coffee as it catches the sun or a glass of wine when you need to relax at the end of a busy day sightseeing. Although not an amazing view it is very pleasant and expect it would be a lot nicer further on in the year when the plants and flowers are looking more lush.
A welcome pack was supplied, which was a lovely surprise, it included: bread, butter, jam, croissants, ham, orange juice, wine and a massive cake ;-)
There was also lots of extras like various teas and coffees, sugar, salt, pepper, oils, vinegar, herbs etc, even washing powder should you need to do a wash- very helpful. The supermarket is less than a 10 minute walk if you want to do a shop.
Lots of nice clean fluffy towels are supplied and the kingsize bed was really comfy.
We used the safe for piece of mind but dont think it was essential. the main door had a doorman on most days (not evenings) or was locked so only residents could enter the block.
The apartment is ideally situated for the Vatican, which was fantastic as we got to see the Pope on his first appearance. Thanks Silvia for updating of us of events during our stay to make sure we didn't miss anything.
We did all of our sightseeing on foot - and believe me we walked!!! but the train station and bus route are a stones throw away if you prefer.
As the apartment is in a residentual street you don't get lots of noise from bars and main roads which is nice. But still very near to some lovely restaurants etc so you dont have to go far to eat or drink.
Only small downside to the apartment is there is no wifi connection, but to be honest you don't really need it as so many bars/cafes/restaurants in Rome have free wifi.
There is a small bar called Tonis on the way to the apartment on the right hand side, which has free wifi and made a great end to the day to have drinks. Lovely friendly locals and the barman Sasha was very helpful and kept the nibbles coming as well as friendly advise on Rome ;-)
Silvia was very helpful on our last day, letting us stay later than we should have as our flight wasnt until the afternoon (this would obviously be an individual thing depended on time of next visitors arrival) but very helpful rather than dragging our case around.
We would definitely stay here again, great apartment, great location. Overall a fantastic stay ;-)
