Home description
Villa Ginestra is an "attached town house style" villino. Its garden, living room with a hand painted Italian tiled fireplace, raised dining area opening onto a galley kitchen, double and twin bedrooms, full and half bath, private beach access just down the hill, make it the perfect family (or romantic!) get away! The stunning lake view from the patio will accompany every moment of your al fresco dining! The private beach is in a nature reserve and no motor boats or jet skis are allowed on the lake.
The villa's proximity to Lake Bracciano, Rome's best kept holiday secret, makes it the ideal choice for those seeking a relaxing holiday - romantic or family - close to the Eternal City, but without the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. Your days can include both visits to Rome by train (20 mins from the train station at the nearby town of Anguillara) and refreshing dips in the lake or perhaps a visit to the enchanting castle of Bracciano (where Tom Cruise got married!) and the Etruscan tombs of Cerveteri. You can also explore the surrounding villages and nearby lakes. The world renowned hot springs and spas close by make it a perfect destination for a fall, winter or spring holiday as well! http://www.responsibletravel.com/community/tips/view.aspx?id=1224&tid=467

The Lazio region
Lazio, the centre of italy, dotted with volcanic lakes and hot springs, is home both to the Eternal city and the mysterious Etruscans. It is rich with Ancient Roman history and papal tradition, cultural treasures and picturesque scenery.
You can also visit the Roman amphitheatre at nearby Sutri if that's more to your liking. Feeling sporty? A lovely hike or bike ride around the lake or on the hills embracing the lake or, why not, a sail or canoe ride on the crystal blue water or even a day of golf at Le Quercie. For the gourmet, Trevignano and the neighbouring towns of Anguillara and Bracciano offer a plethora of typical Italian food shops, featuring locally grown produce and wine, range fed cattle, freshly caught lake fish - coregone - http://tinyurl.com/n745sm and a wide variety of typical Italian bread and cakes. Don't feel like cooking? Restaurant choices range from simple home style trattorias, pizzerias and typical Italian take away to world class dining possibilities.
Rome Lake District / Trevignano Romano area
Lake Bracciano, with the three main towns of Bracciano, Trevignano Romano and Anguillara, offers sunbathing, water sports, hiking, biking and horse back riding, a castle http://www.odescalchi.it/ and several small but interesting museums, such as the aviation museum at the nearby town of Vigna di Valle http://www.aeronautica.difesa.it/SitoAM/Default.asp?idente=1404&idSez=716 You can even play golf at the nearby. town of Sutri which also boasts a Roman amphitheatre. Trevignano's close proximity to Rome makes frequent forays into the Eternal city by train hassle free (20 mins from the nearby town of Anguillara). The Etruscan towns of Cerveteri and Tarquinia to the north and the city of Viterbo, famous for its relaxing hot springs and papal history are possible day trip destinations. Moreover, the summer season is one continual local feast or "sagra" as they're called in Italian. From celebrating the locally grown sun ripened tomatoes to beans and wild boar your taste buds will tingle with anticipation. For history and culture buffs there are pageants with themes running from the medieval to the religious. Garden buffs can visit the gardens at nearby San Liberato www.sanliberato.it/english/sitonuovo6.swf or Villa Lante, a bit further afield in Bagnaia www.infoviterbo.it/villa_lante_bagnaia_eng.htm
