Sutri was founded by the Etruscans over 2000 years ago and still has a number of archaelogical remains from this period and the Roman, Lombard and medieval eras. Further details indoors: Interior details The house is designed to sleep 5 people comfortably. There are two fully equipped double bedrooms plus a study/bedroom with a double sofa bed with real mattress and storage space.
Overall, the house is 100 sq. m. There are the following rooms: dining room, living room, study/bedroom, master bedroom, en suite bathroom, guest bedroom, guest bathroom
Bed linen and towels The house has enough bed linen for 8 people plus some spare sheets, pillows and blankets. It also has over a dozen towels and a washing machine in case you want to wash things through. You can therefore travel light...
Heating / water / electricity Heating: The house has central heating and a combination boiler providing you with hot warm water on demand.
Water: The water is comlpetely safe to drink, but as always with travelling to other places, it contains different bacteria to in the UK / Denmark / France. Therefore if you have a really sensitive stomach, you may want to buy bottled water at 15 cents a bottle in the local supermarket.
Electricity: The electricity supply in Italy is 220V / 50Hz with two pin-sockets. There is no problem with using UK / Danish / French appliances and the house has a number of adaptors for UK appliances.
Cooking / eating / drinking The kitchen is well-equipped with a high quality electric fan oven and gas hob, large fridge-freezer, washing machine and double ceramic sink. There is plenty of storage space and enough crockery, glasses and cutlery for 8-12 people. There are also plenty of pans, oven dishes and pretty much every utensil you might need to make your morning cappuccino or cup of tea, open your wine, crush garlic, serve soup... For the dining room, there are table cloths, mats and candles.
Laundry / cleaning The house is equipped with a washing machine, drying rack, iron and ironing board if you need to do any laundry during your stay. We have a local cleaning lady who will prepare the house before your arrival and clean the house after you leave, so you don't need to worry about towels, bed linen etc. During your stay if you need to sweep or clean up a little, the house has all the cleaning equipment you could need.
Keys / security The house is very secure as it is perched high up on the city wall and only accessible through the main entrance. All doors have triple locks and are made from reinforced steel and glass. We have made local arrangements for picking up and depositing the house keys, so you will be able to pick them up at most times of the day when you arrive.
Use of the telephone We are leaving our telephone plugged in and you are welcome to USE IT AT YOUR OWN COST. We will do a reading before you arrive and after your departure. We will communicate to you the exact amount you have spent and arrange with you to deduct this from your deposit money. Inevitably this is a system of trust and any abuse will mean that we have to cut the service for others in the future. Please note, there is still a little bit of a monopoly in Italy by Telecom Italia and it is more expensive than in the UK or Denmark. Nonetheless, it is no more than 20 cents a minute to call northern Europe.
Further details outdoors: Garden / terrace The house has a 40 sq m garden with 10 sq m tiled terrace. The terrace has a table, chairs and umbrella and there is a stone barbeque in the lower section of the garden for your use. The lower part of the garden is grass and the upper section is stone. We have a lemon tree which in summer gets quite thirsty so would be grateful for some water every couple of days. The olive tree is more sturdy and only needs water every couple of weeks, otherwise it drowns.
