The Lazio region
You find Villa Nova in Trevignano Romano, 35 km north of Rome. Trevignano is a beautiful small village, with plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and a wonderful beach. The volcanic lake has clean, warm water is free from motorboats and very peaceful. Beach chairs, sailing boats, water bicycles and canoes can be rented. We provide infomation and our recommendations in the house. It is also an ideal starting point for trips to Rome, Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria. The area itself offers a number of tourist attractions and outdoor activities.
Rome Lake District / Trevignano Romano area
You find Villa Nova in Trevignano Romano, 35 km north of Rome. Trevignano is a beautiful small village, with plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and a wonderful beach. Around the lake, there is two other villages, Anguillara and Bracciano. Anguillara has a beutiful historic centre worth visiting. And here you also find some bigger supermarkets. Just outside Anguillara, there's a nice beach, a perfect beach for kids with beach chairs and nice restaurants. In the other village, Bracciano, there is an old castel, to visit. In both villages we give some recommendations for restaurants. Outdoor in the area - golf, horsebackriding, hiking, sailing. We provide information in house.
Two other villages are worth visiting nearby, Sutri and Calcata. Sutri, with a beutiful historic centre, has an old amfitheater. Calcata is situated on a rock, only artists live and work there, it feels like you travel to the middle age when visiting. Shopping - the centre of Rome is a paradise for the lovers. For clothing you can also go to the outlet Castel Romano, where you can buy italian design for 30-70 % of retail price.
Citytour - Rome (35 min drive or by train from neighbouring village) is like a big museum. Lots of historical buildings etc to see. It is also very nice just to walk around. We give you a map that shows the areas you want to see. This also shows some good restaurants and bars. We have good contact with an american lady, archeologist, that guide citytours.
Zee - the coast is about 30 min drive from here. There's plenty of nice beaches and restaurants.
Other nice trips; Tivoli with Villa Adriano, Adrianos summer residence. A beutiful place for picknick and history.
Pompei - its very nice, the drive is about 3 hours.
Firenze, Sienna etc - about 2 hours drive.
How to get there
Fly to Rome, Fuimicino or Ciampino. Villa Nova is located in Trevignano Romano, 45 minutes drive from both airports. There's about 2 km to the village so you need a car. We recommend you to rent small cars at www.sixti.com. Small cars are convient in italy due to parking and traffic. Others are www.avis.com and www.hertz.com.
