Home description
Flat has 60 sq. m. internal space + two balconies. Marble floors. The sitting room is large with a dining table and chairs to seat 6, 2 armchairs and a double sofa bed, patio doors to a balcony. TV&DVD. The bedroom leading to a second balcony shared with the kitchen; lovely mountain views from these rooms. Beds are quite new and comfortable - can be made up as a large double or two singles. Warm climate even in winter. We supply all linen, changed weekly, but not beach towels. See photos and also look at accurate 'to scale' floor plan showing all furniture.
Menton and its surroundings has something of the exotic about it - the blue sea and sky, the vegetation, the lovely climate, the spectacular views of the coast, buildings, mountains down to the sea, the restaurants and so many places to visit: Monaco/Monte-Carlo; perched villages; national park, fishing/ marinas , rocky coves.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
Roquebrune-Cap-Martin is on the coast next to Menton and close to Monaco/Monte-Carlo. It is about 5 Km from the Italian border. The Alpes come right down to the sea at Menton.
The climate is the mildest in France - palm trees flourish here. Close to ski resorts - nearest is about 1 hour by car; Isola 2000 maybe 2 hours. A car is good but one can manage very well with the excellent public transport.
Carnoles railway stop is 200m up the road from the flat. Frequent trains west to Monaco, Nice, Cannes and east to Menton and Italy.
Rocquebrune-Cap-Martin area
Roquebrune old village is perched on the mountainside, super views of Monte-Carlo across its bay. Menton itself has plenty to see and is only a short walk, just over one mile. Corbusier's walk around the 'Cap' has to be done, and his cabin; and up to the village to see his grave - maybe? The house where Yeats died is just behind the Marie of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. A visitor told us he was buried here originally.
Monaco and Monte-Carlo are less than 5 miles have many attractions including the Palace and of course the Grand Prix and various carting races during the year. Many houses and gardens to see. Good walking either along the coast or in the mountains.
How to get there
FLY to NICE AIRPORT. It is easy and quick. (From UK: Easyjet, BA and others).
From airport: The AIRPORT COACH leaves every hour and takes 75 minutes. First part by motorway then a stunning, indeed spectacular, journey via mountains into Monaco/Monte-Carlo centre and thence along the 'base corniche' next to the sea to Roquebrune / Menton. The bus can be asked to put you down about 100m from the flat. If you are unfamiliar and a tad nervous this is the way to do it - easy and inexpensive.
From airport by TRAIN: bus or taxi into Nice railway station and then by train to CARNOLES, which is one stop before Menton.
From airport: by CAR HIRE. The usual international car hire companies are at Nice Airport. Car hire is not essential, although the apartment does have an allocated, secure, parking space. By car take the motorway to Menton. The journey takes about 35 to 45 minutes.
OTHER WAYS TO GET THERE By Eurostar from London to Paris and TGV from Paris to Nice, local train to Roquebrune. Takes longer but probably more agreeable and less hassle.
By CAR from UK if you have the time. Motorway is obviously quickest, but 'Route Napoleon' and smaller roads would be more fun.
