About this location
The Smith's Parish region
Bermuda, is Britain's oldest and largest remaining colony. It is bathed in the Gulf Stream Waters of the Atlantic, which makes it the world's most northern collection of coral atolls. Located some 700's miles off North Carolina, this small country boasts beautiful pink coral beaches, golf courses, clean towns and streets, quaint villages, shopping and a mild climate year round. The island is approximately 26 miles long and only a mile wide in some places. Despite its small size, there are approximately 150 miles of roads.
Home to 60,000 people, Bermuda is known for its friendly people, cleanliness, beautiful beaches and golf courses. The island runs from east to west and is shaped like a fish hook. There are 3 towns. St Georges, on the eastern end, where the English first settled and made their capital; Hamilton located in the middle and is now the centre of commerce; and Somerset on the west end.
Due to its size, it is easy to get from one end to the other using buses, ferries, scooters, bicycles, taxis and walking. There are NO car rental agencies. The traffic speed is much slower at 35 kph, or 25 mph, so it takes approximately 1 hour to get from St Georges to Somerset, and about 30 minutes to get from St Georges to Hamilton.
Bermuda is both perfect for short weekends as well as month long stays. US$ as well as BD$ are accepted equally and money can easily be withdrawn from ATM's conveniently situated throughout the island. The electric voltage is the same as the USA. The country's relaxed and polite atmosphere makes for an easy vacation and is an ideal location for weddings, golf outings, or simple sightseeing.
Smith's Parish is centrally located and ideally situated to access all of the best amenities including major golf courses 10 minutes away at Mid Ocean, Tucker's Point, and Ocean View, beaches such as John Smith's Bay, Elbow Beach and Shelly Bay (10 to 15 minutes away), the Aquarium (5 minutes away), paddle boarding (5 minutes away) the City of Hamilton (10 minutes away) and the BUEI, Spittle Pond (5 minutes away), as well as the historic Towne of St Georges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (18 minutes away). This parish is also known as the bread basket of the island boasting lots of arable land.
Rockmore Estate consists of 3 acres located on the highest points on the island. Situated in the highlands, the property is bathed in gentle breezes. The estate joins 40 acres of private trust land of arable fields and woodlands, an ideal home for migratory birds and local endemic bluebirds, and trails that are suitable for walks by guests.
The property consists of an 1800's Italianate main house occupied by the owners which include two rentable bedroom suites, an attached 1 bedroom apartment, as well as a 4 bedroom house. There is a pool, tennis courts, trampoline and multiple places to kick back and relax on hammocks and various swings.

Thank you John for your lovely words. I will pass that message onto Donald Duck, who is now more firmly entrenched on our kitchen porch. Yesterday, we received a present of an egg laid randomly there -- where anyone could have stepped on it. How silly.
I enjoyed watching your daughters trampolining together, their squeals belied their 20 year old ages.
You were very easy guests and we hope to see you back again. I'm sorry my car was only a 4 seater so thanks for being open to pop into the hatchback area.
Give everyone my warmest regards,

I am glad that you took the opportunity to walk the private trails and go up to the highest point on Bermuda to see the views of the entire island! I'm pleased also to witness you playing tennis. Thank you for gift of rackets which I'm sure will be used by future guests!--Andrea
