The West Country region
The North Cornish coast is one of the most rugged and beautiful with plenty of sandy beaches. King Arthur's Tintagel is just a short distance away, the Eden Project and St Ives can each be accessed in about an hour, and St Michaels Mount is also within driving distance.
Sailing & Windsurfing
The Camel estuary is a perfect sailing water, especially at high tide. There are a number of boat hire companies and an active sailing club that welcomes visiting sailors. For those bringing your own boat there is a beachside boat park in Rock. Windsurfers have the additional option of launching from Daymer Bay.
There is a marked area for water-skiers in the more sheltered parts of the Camel estuary. Rock Sailing & Water Ski club will welcome visiting water-skiers and for beginners there is the Water Ski school in Rock.
Choose from the many surfing beaches; from Polzeath just 2 miles away, to Porthcothan, Treyarnon, Constantine or Harlyn Bay near Padstow. Slightly further afield is the popular Watergate beach at Newquay.
Pit your golfing skills against the championship course at St Enodoc. Other courses for the more casual golfer that will not insist on a handicap certificate include St Enodoc (New Course), Roserrow and Trevone.
The old coastal railway has been converted for the use of cyclists and walkers allowing a safe haven from other traffic. As you cycle along the side of the Camel estuary you can enjoy the breath taking views of the cornish countryside from Padstow to Wadebridge and on to Bodmin.
Rock, Padstow and the surrounding areas have an abundance of excellent restaurants and well qualified seafood chefs. However those wishing to have a more hands on experience can fish for their own mackerel from Rock and attend Rick Stein's cookery courses in Padstow.

"Perfect location and family friendly"
This cottage is in an excellent location. I stayed with my husband, baby daughter and father in law for one week in June and we were very happy with the accommodation. The photos don't do it justice as when we arrived the cottage surpassed our expectations. It is incredibly clean and tidy, very well presented and homely. The cottage is very close to Polzeath and a range of beaches which was perfect for us as we are keen surfers. It is also near Rock which has some lovely shops and restaurants.
The one and only down side was that as it is self catering you have to do a thorough clean of the property before you leave which with a young baby was a bit of a challenge and in some ways caused a bit of stress on our last morning. I think this is standard practice though so please don't let it put you off this great cottage. If there were an option to pay a bit of extra money for a cleaner I would have done that!
I will certainly return to the cottage.

"Looking forward to coming back!"
We were looking for a week's break somewhere that was close to the beach, and a good base for places to go and things to do, but with enough seclusion for some decent rest and relaxation. I am really glad that we found 10 Treglyn Cottage, as it met these criteria completely.
We were able to book at fairly short notice and received all the relevant details from Julie prior to arrival. When we got there, there was a parking space at the top of the front garden, but more available nearby for extra cars. It's not really possible to get the car any closer, so we had to do a few "shuttle runs" with our luggage over the 20 metres or so to the front door, but this wasn't really an inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. Receiving the key was no hassle at all, and the keys for the various doors in the property were all clearly labelled up. A lovely touch was the selection of wines that had been made available (with a polite request to replenish with similar bottles). There was also a comprehensive folder of information about the surrounding area with some helpful personal comments from our hosts.
The downstairs living area is a great space, with a large dining table and modern kitchen. The kitchen has just about every utensil you could ask for in a holiday property, which made things very easy. I found the little armchair very comfortable for reading, and the sofas were nice too - but then we would say that since they are the same as ours at home! Strange coincidence! The TV is a nice flatscreen with HDMI input, which worked out nicely for my Apple TV box which I took along.
The bedrooms are lovely, though we only used the one - it was a good size, with plenty of drawers and a wardrobe. I wasn't completely comfortable in the bed: I'm 6'3" so felt a bit constricted by the footboard. But this was a small thing really - otherwise, the mattress was great and we slept well.
The wifi was a key feature for us as we used the internet to do lots of research about things to do/ taxis/ restaurants etc. The connection was always fine.
One thing we can definitely recommend is taking the ferry from Rock over to Padstow, eating out over there, and getting the water taxi back - it's great fun. We also managed a day's surfing, but when we got back I couldn't find an external tap to wash the wetsuits. There was probably one in the large communal garden somewhere at the back, but to be honest the book/ armchair combination was more appealing!
I can honestly say that I don't think I've had a more relaxing holiday - it's a shame it's taken two months to getting around to writing the review, but we're definitely looking to book again for a week next year. It's a lovely place which covers so many features you're likely to need and is reasonably priced for the amount of activities on offer if you're willing to do some exploring. We had good intentions to visit a couple of the nearby pubs in the evening, but we were so comfortable in the cottage that we didn't even bother!

"Lovely cottage, very well furnished and equipped, perfect for families/extended families with children"
Great open plan kitchen, dining, and living area with easy access through patio doors to gardens at front and rear. The Treglyn complex is well designed, very quiet with extensive grounds, and extensive views. It is very conveniently located for Rock, Daymer Bay, Polzeath and Port Isaac. The owners Julie and Graham have been really helpful, and ensure that the cottage is maintained to a very high standard.
