The Limousin / Auvergne / Haute-Vienne region
The Limousin region is a haven of quiet wooded walkways, tranquil cycling on country backroads, abundant fishing and relaxing water sports. Long visited by the French on their summer holidays, the area is one of France's best kept secrets and has a quiet, unhurried pace of life which makes for the perfect holiday destination. Often called the "lake district" this area has beautiful lakes for swimming, fishing, boating and all types of water sports. Limoges is a wonderful destination for food, culture and history and a great deal less exploited then many French towns. The benifits of the neighbouring Dordogne can be easily exploited with beutiful towns such as Nortron, Branton, Conjac being close enough to easily see and enjoy in a day.
