While Anse Bernik is directly in front of you, it is just one of four private beaches on Eden Island – Anse Tec Tec and Anse Bernitier are a short walk (or EPV-ride) away. And all offer superb swimming, snorkeling and fly fishing.

For those who love to cook, the kitchen is fully equipped with state-of-the-art Miele appliances and there is a Weber gas barbecue. Modern conveniences include washing machine and tumble dryer, and the Maison has satellite TV, ceiling fans and air-conditioning.

Upstairs you will find three gorgeous double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and separate WC. The master suite opens onto an enormous balcony with comfortable armchairs and sun loungers from which you can enjoy beautiful vistas of the Indian Ocean and Mahe's lush mountains. A perfect location for sundowners. The third bedroom has views to the island of St Anne.

The Maison comes complete with an Electrically Powered Vehicle (EPV)/golf buggy that's ideal for zipping off to Eden Plaza for shopping and restaurants, to the spa for a massage, or to the boardwalk for cocktails and a spot of super-yacht watching.

Maison 199 is ideal for friends, a family, or a romantic couple seeking more space and privacy than a hotel room or apartment.

The Eden Island region

ABOUT MAHE & THE SEYCHELLES

The unique beauty of the Seychelles has drawn visitors from far and wide for centuries. An unspoiled paradise rarely encountered in this modern world, the archipelago is made up of 115 idyllic islands, many still uninhabited.

Pleasantly tropical, with weather that ranges between 24° C and 31° C all year round, most of the islands lie well outside the cyclone belt.

Each island has its own character…and its own treasures.

Mahé, the largest, has much to offer the fortunate traveler who steps onto its palm-fringed shores: from postcard-perfect beaches and some of the Indian Ocean’s finest dive sites to the world’s smallest capital, the colourful Victoria. Here, you can shop for crafts, spices and fresh produce at the market or get a taste of Creole cuisine and island-style nightlife. Victoria’s sights include the National Museum and ‘Little Ben’, a smaller replica of London’s Big Ben clock tower. The Botanical Garden, with its endemic flora and fauna, including giant tortoises, is definitely worth a visit.

It may be tempting to spend your entire holiday enjoying the ocean’s bounty – Mahé's snorkeling, sailing and fishing conditions are unparalleled – but make time to explore the island’s granitic mountains and mysterious forests too. Take a hike through the Morne Seychellois National Park or the exotic scenic drive from Victoria to Port Glaud.

As the hub of the archipelago, Mahé is a springboard to the rest of the Seychelles. A short boat ride will get you to Cerf or Sainte Anne for lunch, while the ferry travels to Praslin and La Digue daily. Domestic flights are available to most outer islands, and, if you wish to follow in the honeymoon footsteps of Will and Kate, North Island is just a helicopter hop away.

ABOUT EDEN ISLAND

Eden Island is the most desirable self-catering holiday destination in the Seychelles. Built on a reclaimed coral island and linked to Mahé via a bridge, this stunning residential marina comprises 56 hectares of tropical heaven surrounded by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. The development has a resort-like feel with luxurious apartments, maisons and villas interspersed with lush gardens, palm-fringed beaches and private waterways.

5-star facilities include a fully equipped gymnasium, swimming pools, tennis, volley ball and boule courts, two spas, a deli, several restaurants, even a play-park for kids.

Eden Island’s beautiful beaches offer safe swimming in turquoise waters and superb snorkeling, thanks to live coral beds. For the more adventurous, yacht and fishing charters are available and there is a dive centre at the entrance to Eden Bridge. While the ocean teems with amazing sea life, the marina, one of few deep enough to accommodate super-yachts, is home to magnificent pleasure craft from across the globe.

Parking is available immediately across the bridge, and thereafter the resort is traversable only by EPV (golf buggy) or bicycle – adding to its quiet exclusivity. This is a place to slow down, take it easy and discover the delights of the island life.

Only minutes from picturesque Victoria – the world’s smallest capital – Eden Island is the ideal base for exploring Mahé: take a taxi to the market, or hire a car for a day trip to catch the waves at Beauvallon Bay, hike the mountains of the Morne Seychellois National Park, and partake in a rum tasting at Takamaka. Close to the airport and ferry too, it is also perfectly placed for island hopping around Seychelles. Although, with everything your holiday heart desires available on Eden Island itself, you’d be forgiven for never wanting to leave.

The friendly Eden Island team is always on hand to assist with reservations, enquiries and advice.

"Paradise most definitely found..."

There wasn't a moment I did not savor while staying at Maison 199 on Eden Island. The accommodation was perfect; charming, clean and pleasantly modern.

Days were spent plunging in the private pool or adventuring to one of Eden's pristine beaches to snorkel, play volleyball or just to sink our toes into the sand. But, my favorite part of the day was relaxing on the balcony while sipping on a cool drink and gazing at the crystal water and palm-dotted beach across the way. A picture I will not soon forget.

Most evenings we barbecued on the porch and ate overlooking the water, a perfect way to end the day. Before crawling into bed, sometimes we would take one last dip under the stars or just sit and enjoy our surrounding unspoiled paradise.

Each room was tastefully decorated and perfectly captured the tranquil, beach atmosphere. Room-controlled central air throughout the unit made it extremely comfortable, for sleeping and relaxing.

I would recommend Maison 199 in a heartbeat. I definitely plan on returning.

"A luxurious, stylish maison just a few steps away from a snorkel and swim in paradise."

Our family of five ( two teenagers and twelve year old) had a relaxing and enjoyable ten days on Eden Island. We loved the fact that we could walk to a choice of private and beautiful beaches, where the snorkeling was outstanding. The maison was simple and stylish, with every necessity (and many luxuries) provided. Day trips from the island are essential, although we became so relaxed and comfortable that it was often hard to move from the beautiful maison pool, where we could gaze out at the turquoise sea and tropical forests on the mountains. Day drives to the endless and exquisite beaches, and the delightful restaurants on Mahe are essential. Our highlight was a trip to La Digue, where we hired bikes to explore the quaint little island. Paradise for urban weary souls.

"Hopefully next time we can stay longer....."

We have just returned from our first trip to the Seychelles and this will definitely not be our last! This was in no small part due to the fabulous accommodation we had in Maison 199, Eden Island.

Travelling as a family of four this maison provided plenty of space for our 17 year old daughter to find a balcony or lounge for some 'time alone' when the parents and 10 year old sister became a tad irritating (or was that the other way round)?

The private swimming pool was a hit at the end of a day of boating, snorkelling or exploring the island. Most evenings we cooked outdoors on the gas barbeque, overlooking the beach directly in front of the unit, still being able to keep an eye on our youngest who spent the evening swimming in the warm pool.

It was a little too humid for us to run, so the well-equipped and air conditioned gym was a hit.

Whilst the maison had everything we needed, including air conditioning in all rooms, it was the overall quality and comfort of the unit and the pleasant cleaning staff that enabled us to really relax.

Eden Island could not be better positioned as the airport is a few minutes away and the island was easy to explore by car or by boat.

Hopefully next time we can stay longer.....
