A good title considered it's the greenest valley in Italy, the Sesia Valley stretches from the slopes of the south face of Monte Rosa along the Sesia River, and seducing visitors from around the world.
If Varallo is its historical and cultural capital, the symbol is certainly the majesty of the Monte Rosa, whose grandeur intrigued even the master Leonardo da Vinci, who wrote: "And I saw above me the dark air and the sun brighter here than on the low-lying plains."
The turning point for the area came between 1950 and 1965 with the design and the inauguration of the first cable systems, at the time of the most modern in Europe, the ancestors of the current linking the three valleys, Sesia Valley, Gressoney Valley and Valley Ayas, the latter two in Valle d'Aosta, and which togetherr make up the Monterosa Ski.
