Riva Valdobbia

Riva Valdobbia:

Taking a walk to the village center in a few minutes you will reach the small central square: the eye is drawn to the majestic Parish Church of St. Michele, proclaimed a national heritage, whose facade painted by the master Melchiorre D'Enrico in 1597 is a sublime Judgement.

The imposing portal soapstone bears the 'incision in 1326 as the date of construction, while the interior reveals numerous figurative works dated between the fifteenth and the eighteenth century, among which eighteenth-century wooden altarpiece and a triptych.

Moving from the central square in the direction of Alagna go left to reach Val Vogna, one of the few places in Piedmont where there are pastures inhabited throughout the year.

The particularly lush and wild nature of this valley, celebrated in different bibliographical works, it affects anyone who ventures there. The Vogna stream which gives its name to this location, you can follow its crystal clear waters to reach the peaks or valleys of Rassa Biella . Riva Valdobbia, is located a few minutes from Alagna therefore offering excellent access to the ski resort Monterosa Ski, it is also the birthplace of skiing.

The Sesia Valley:

The valley stretches from the slopes of the south wall of Monte Rosa along the Sesia River

A good title considered it's the greenest valley in Italy, the Sesia Valley stretches from the slopes of the south face of Monte Rosa along the Sesia River, and seducing visitors from around the world.

If Varallo is its historical and cultural capital, the symbol is certainly the majesty of the Monte Rosa, whose grandeur intrigued even the master Leonardo da Vinci, who wrote: "And I saw above me the dark air and the sun brighter here than on the low-lying plains."

The turning point for the area came between 1950 and 1965 with the design and the inauguration of the first cable systems, at the time of the most modern in Europe, the ancestors of the current linking the three valleys, Sesia Valley, Gressoney Valley and Valley Ayas, the latter two in Valle d'Aosta, and which togetherr make up the Monterosa Ski.

Today, art, history and ancient and deep-rooted traditions come together in a natural environment that has few equals in the Alps.
