Totally refurbished to a very high standard Cortijo Cuscurro, which was formerly the local bakery for the local hamlet, has a truly traditional Spanish feel, yet provides total and utter luxury. Set in an amazing yet unspoilt part of Andalucia with the most amazing breathtaking views of the mountains and up to the moorish mountain top village of Comares.
There are 5 very large and airy bedrooms along with the option of a 6th bedroom if necessary, by using the second lounge in the cottage.
Only 5 minutes to the white washed villages of Riogordo and Comares, yet only 20 minutes the coast, the farmhouse is ideal for those seeking privacy, tranquility and relaxation. Guests have exclusive use of both the farmhouse and the cottage, making this retreat an ideal base for groups and familes alike.

Cortijo Cuscurro lies amongst olive groves with mature gardens with colourful shrubs, trees, palms and an unusually shaped chlorine free pool ( Saline) along with hot tub jacuzzi. At the bottom of the land is a stream and makes an ideal get away with a good book or a glass of wine.

The Cortijo is much more than a rental, we have reformed this stunning Famhouse and cottage as our home over a 10 year period and the facilities, furnishings and equipment provided, reflect just this.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

Driving along the Costa del Sol overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, about 30 minutes away from Malaga Airport you will enter La Axarquia, a rural region still unspoilt by tourism. Green countryside with white-washed villages, tranquility and a different way of life under the year-round sunshine of Andalucia are waiting for you.

Going up from Torre del Mar into the mountains you will reach Lake Viñuela, a man-made reservoir surrounded by mountains, not only providing the area with water but also forming a spectacular and harmonic part of attraction of this unique and scenic landscape. here you will find several bars/restaurants offering fantastic food.

Heading inland from here you will reach the charming village of Riogordo, nestled into this stunning countryside with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Riogordo translates to Fat River, which is what the village is know for. . Torre del Mar with beaches and all facilities is 20 min away.

Riogordo area

The pretty whitewashed village of Riogordo lies in the region of Axarquia. This small and unspoilt area of Andalucia –to the north east of Malaga - is still a well kept secret. Untouched by mass tourism, and surrounded by National Parks it is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty between the Sea and Sierras.

The village offers very resonable local restaurants and excellent shopping facilities. Only 20 minutes to the Mediterranean coast, and 40 minutes to Malaga international airport. Due to good motorway connections, Granada and Antequera can be reached in 1 hour, Cordoba and Seville in 2 hours. Lake Vinuela is 10 mins by car.

The village of Riogordo is five minutes away by car where most grocery items may be purchased as well as freshly baked bread. Fresh fish, four butcher's and two banks. Wednesday there is a street market. There is a good choice of local restaurants and bars near by, as well as dozens to choose from at the coast, catering for all tastes. 24 hour medical centre in nearby Colmenar.

The farmhouse.

Lounge with 42 wide screen TV. Satellite TV with English channels, DVD, stereo, DVD collection, Cd collection. Internet access in house and WIFI for laptop. Knowle sofas along with comfly sofas and antique furniture give this room a homely feel. The truly outstanding luxury kitchen with central island has been equipped to a very high standard to include all you could possibly need during your stay. equipment includes, coffee machine, dishwasher, juicer, microwave, and very large professional range cooker (Rossiere bacuse) for those looking at cooking in style. We have provided a large american fridge freezer and a separate chest freezer, so if you want to stock up, then you can. Along with a kitchen table and chairs is a stunning separate dining room with leather dining chairs and traditional stone walls leading down to the vaulted living area. Enjoy summer days and evenings in the Andalucia courtyard with covered terrace providing a solid oak table seating 12, outside kitchen with sink, wine fridge and lounge area for siestas. Gas BBQ in courtyard.
There is a stunning family bathroom with jacuzzi bath, walk in shower room, wash hand basin and toilet, along with a separate utility room with washing machin and door leading to a large rear terrrace with washing line.
Upstairs leads you to the large open plan office space with additional double sofa bed for optional use. There are oak beams throughout the property with high ceilings providing a cool air at all times. The light and airy air conditioned master bedoom has been tastefully decorated and incorporates a dressing room with solid oak wardrobes and en suite facilities. From this charming room you have direct access to your own private terrace with table and chairs for morning coffee or that last glass of wine of the evening while watching the stars.
There is a double bedroom with large leather double bed and wardrobes along with a triple bedroom.

The Cottage.

The cottage is adjoined to the farmhouse and has its own entrance with private terraces and the Jacuzzi. You have a charming lounge, which was the former bakery, which you can use as an additional bedroom or additional sleeping. There are two sofa beds. The cottage has a real spanish feel with beams thoughout. There is a separate dining room along with a well equipped kitchen with further cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both decorated to retain the spanish charm along with a shower room with wash hand basin and toilet.

Further details outdoors:
There are several terraces, enough room for all to have some private time. The hot tub jacuzzi is so popular for those hot summer evenings watching the stars. Many paths lead down to the free form saline swimming pool, which has colour changing lights for evening use.
The courtyard is a real feature of this Cortijo, providing a shaded outdoor kitchen along with dining area and lounge facilities with a day bed for those afternoon siestas. The large mature olive tree gives shade to the open courtyard in the afternoons. Large professional gas BBQ for al fresco cooking.
The pool and jacuzzi will be cleaned by us twice a week to keep it in pristine condition during your stay. We will respect your privacy totally.

We visited the property featured in Summer 2008. We were two families and can highly recommend this Farmhouse and Cottage. We had plenty of space to call our own, yet had the most fantastic views, swimming pool and the Spa was a plus for the children. Day and night entertainment. The Kitchen is outstanding and the lounge well WOW. Great all round for a stunning base yet easy for us to see the area. Thanks guys

Large farmhouse in remote rural location, away from the hustle and bustle of tourist. Facilities were excellant. Would highly recommend this property for those looking for a quiet getaway to recharge your batteries.
