"Excellent vacation in Copacabana"
Very nice apartment, that includes all your basic needs for a pleasent stay. Great central location, on a broad avenue for shopping, bus stops to explore the city and useful services just 2-3 minutes away(ATM's, Markets, post office etc.). High floor and a wonderful terrace.

"Best Carnival Value"
We stayed at Bob's during Carnival. I contacted over one hundred owners through multiple websites and found him to be very reasonable for the price. The most important factor in booking with him is that he took Paypal. Wiring money isn't safe. For the price that I was paying (relative to the astronomically higher prices for other guesthouses and hotels in the Zona Sul area), I knew going in that it was not the Ritz. My expectations were for a clean apartment in a safe, central area to lay my head down for the few hours. I found that the apartment overall met my expectations. Bob has multiple units on the very top level of a building just a 3 min walk from the Copa beach. There are multiple cafes, juice bars, and money exchangers nearby, making his apartment VERY convenient. There is also a security guard downstairs, which definitely put my mind at ease. My friends and I rented out two units: One w/ a kitchen and ensuite bathroom, and another smaller unit with a shared kitchen and bathroom. Mine was the larger unit with the unexpected amenity of a large flat screen TV. And that is the thing with Bob's apartments, you expect barebones for the price (again relative!), but there was a nice roof terrace with a pool, pool table, and bbq area. You could even see Christ Redentor from there (and our room). As for cleanliness, there was sand on the ground. I tried to sweep it up, but you live near the beach, so it was inevitable. Also, the window panels were not flush with each other, so streets noises were very apparent; bring earplugs. It helped that the a/c unit was loud, b/c the droning helped lull us to sleep. BTW, the a/c worked great...also the shower had good pressure and so did the toilet (come here once, and you'll see why it's important). I had difficulty controlling the temperature of the shower, but was grateful for the hot water. Bob provides the first roll of toilet paper only, so consider bringing your own (everything is ludicrously expensive here). Bring your own toiletries. Dish detergent (along with kitchenware) was provided. There's also a full size fridge. There is no daily maid service, but for a fee, cleaning can be provided. Unlike other apartments I looked at, there is no energy charge. So it would be considerate to turn off lights and a/c when you leave for the day. Bob was very professional and friendly. He was full of information and returned emails rather promptly. When the toilet broke in my friend's apartment, he fixed it by the next day (weak flushing power, nothing really ought to go into it except for number one and two...applies to most toilets in Rio). Our security deposit was returned within 4 days of us leaving. I feel that we got the best value for our money during the Carnival period. My friends felt differently, since they had a more cramped space (there was a small pile of boxes in their room) and had to share the bathroom and kitchen area. They paid 25% less, but given how much they paid, they expected more basics (softer linen, a less firm bed, free toilet paper). I think that if they had looked at other places in the area for the same period, they would still have booked with Bob. I found hostels that were charging $90usd per person for a dorm bed. I'd give the apartment a 3.5 but am tempering my review with my friend's experience. Other advice I can give travelers: If your electrical devices have 3 prongs you're going to need an adapter. The money exchangers here give EXCELLENT conversion rates, but you still have to shop around. We always found a satisfactory rate among one of the four exchangers outside our door. Bring your laptop, Bob provides wifi. It's not for streaming movies though. He also provides a safe. The juice bar at the corner (Vita Fruita?) is cheap and good! Try everything. The cafe across the street has cheap entrees (like steak!). Don't recall the name, just look for all the locals sitting in the outdoor seating area. We never drank the tap water, there's a grocery store farther down the street. Ask Bob.
Just wanted to clarify that the referenced friends apartment does share a full kitchen with another apartment, but they did have their own private bathroom and the second apartment has its own private bathroom also. Also as stated in my advertisement: The apartment is self catering, I do provide toilet paper and dishwashing soap upon arrival. Also I provide a clean apartment, clean sheets and towels upon your arrival. Any additional items you need during your stay is your responsibility.

"Great place to stay during Carnival"
Found the apartments very easy to find when we got there - very close to Copacabana palace hotel and a tip to save money is get the blue autobus outside the airport to the Copa palace then walk around the corner. The bus costs 12 Reais and a taxi will cost 100 Reais. Perfect location, close to the metro with bus stops right outside and lots of different restaurants. The terrace was lovely, free wi-fi and for the location these apartments are in during carnival, the price was really good.

"In Center Of Rio's Life!"
it's a very good solution to visit Rio (near bus and metro) and go to the beach (Copacabana 200 mt.) , the best for the new year! The terrace is very luxury and confortable, the price is cheap for this position in Rio, and the landlord is very gentle. free Internet wi-fi 24h.

My husband and I stayed in this perfectly located studio apartment for a week in December. We loved it! A 2 minute walk from Copacabana beach and surrounded by lots of great juice bars, restaurants and bars. The apartment also has a little kitchen, so I was able to make lunches and save a bit of money that way. Plus, the terrace has an amazing view! Great value for such a great location!

"A Good Choice"
i have stayed at these apartments on 3 occasions, 2009, 2010 and 2011. I like the location in Copacabana, it it close to the beach, restaurants and transport. The apartment is adequate for my needs. It has a terrace and swimming pool available for guests to use. The price is reasonable for Copacabana.
