About the home

Close to a lake with a beach, Le Vieux Moulin is a beautiful & spacious converted mill. The mill is in the perfect location for a relaxing wine tasting break but is also ideally located for families and groups looking for a more activity based holiday with canoeing, swimming, walking, cycling, golf, bird watching within easy reach. Also suitable for golfing groups.
4 bedrooms, sleeps 8 adults (plus 2 children and baby) comfortably.
The private garden is in the sun from around midday until sunset.
The mill remains cool during the summer months.
Original stone and wooden floors throughout most of the living areas.
Wood burner (winter season only) and radiators in all rooms.

Most rooms at the mill have been refurbished to a high standard, the kitchen being the most recent.
There is plenty of space for 2 families to share the mill comfortably.

Further details outdoors:
We are next to a very peaceful river/stream and have seen kingfishers, herons, water voles, moorhens and lizards. We installed a low fence last year for the safety of children.

Change over date is usually Saturday but alternative dates can be arranged if available.

Conditions

Due to age and construction, the property is strictly no smoking.
There are steps leading down from the kitchen to the garden so young children will need to be supervised however we have provided a removable safety gate for the kitchen door.
A booking deposit of 25% of the rate to be paid on confirmation of booking and the remaining 75% must be paid 6 weeks before the start date.
A breakages deposit must also be paid (£100) 6 weeks before the start date. This will be returned within 28 days of the end of your holiday.

Living Room

The Loire Valley / Indre-et-Loire region

Rille is just North of “la route vignoble” of the Loire valley, and is therefore an excellent base either for a wine tasting holiday, or for just an occasional day out sampling the local wines of the Region.

The Loire region is famed for its chateaux, and there are many within easy reach of Rille. Close by are the chateaux at Gizeaux, Le Lude and Langeais.

In between Tours and Saumur, amongst others, there are the chateaux of Villandry (famous for its gardens), Azay le Rideau, Chinon, the fairy tale chateau at Rigny-Usse (which is said to be the home of sleeping beauty), the chateau and lovely village of Montsereau and the chateau at Saumur.

The Rille area

The local lake (Lac de Rille) is great for bathing in the peak season, the water is very clean and there are also lifeguards. The lake is great for picnics, windsurfing and walks. You can hire pedalos and there is a small steam railway run by enthusiasts at weekends and holidays.The far section of the lake is enormous and is a wildlife reserve, there are hides for birdwatching.

“Fantastic place for family accomodation” Le Vieux Moulin was a wonderful find for our week in the Loire Valley. The kids loved all the indoor activities as well as the wildlife around the creek running alongside the property. A car is a must, but otherwise it is well situated for visiting the castles of the Loire. Overall a great and relaxing spot for a holiday.

“A good relaxing holiday” As golfers who also like walking and wine, this was a lovely holiday for us. Plenty of room in the old mill which still has lots of character, but with a nice modern kitchen. Sitting in the garden next to the stream with a box of merlot warming in the sun totally chilled us out. We liked the local lakes with the nice gentle walks around them. We went to Villandry chateau which was amazing. The holiday was good value for money and I can definitely see us returning

If notice is given more than 8 weeks prior to arrival a full refund will be given.
