The Sofia/Rila Mountains region
The House is located in the village of Rila. Twenty minute drive from the Rila Monastery.(Rilski manistir)-justly famed for its architecture and its mountainous settings. It offers great hiking and swimming in the local aqua park of Blagoevgrad or hot baths of Smitily. It is situated a fifty minute drive to the two main ski areas or you could try an unknown Bodrost. Climate is characterised by hot dry summers and cool-to-cold winters.
Rila area
From Sofia heading southbound route towards Greece, Kulata is on the boarder. You cannot miss the turning left to the Rila Monstry.Pirin Mountains. After a couple of kilomitres the road passes through the town of Kocherinov a favourite nesting ground in these parts for storks-between May and August the chimney pots are topped with their nests. As you head out of the village the road is lined by trees as you head into the town of Rila where Harry's House is situated. Rila itself offers a few small shops/ restaurants, a couple of bakeries for bread and friendly bars. A short drive or bus to the university town of Blagoevgrad where there are large supermarkets, a Metro and many excellent restaurants and bars.
How to get there
Wizz air and Easy jet both fly London Luton/Sofia. Then you can get the bus to Blagoevgrad or taxi direct to Rila or hire a car or we can organise a pick up from Sofia. Alternativly spend the first night in Sofia and take the train or bus the next day after sight seeing.
