The converted barn is 156 years old and retains it's character with exposed beams and a woodburner taking centre stage.
Both double bedrooms have vaulted ceilings and downstairs the living/kitchen area is open plan with two double doors leading onto your private patio.
I have furnished the gite to give a homely feel and with your comfort in mind and I know that cooking is probably not on the top of your list but I have equipped the kitchen with everything you should need should you become fed up with being waited on in the local restaurants
In lounge/dining room we have provided games to play, DVDs to watch, music CDs to play and books to read while you are having a rest and letting others cook for you!
The lounge also has exposed beams and a glass fronted wood burner ideal for those chilly winter breaks.
We have placed in the gite a cool box and picnic service if you fancy a picnic.
There is also a children's playpen, cot and highchair available if required just to make life just a little easier!
Electricity Included. Linen and towels included.
Further details outdoors:
Opening the 2 double doors from the lounge you step on to your patio area where you can sit out on a warm evening and barbecue to your heart's content.
The surrounding countryside is peaceful and beautiful and it's a good idea to bring a pair of binoculars as we have a pair of kestrels nesting in the barn and in the mornings there are a pair of Hoopoes foraging in our field for their breakfast!
Sun loungers are provided and if all that relaxing in the sun is all getting a bit too much you could always eat your lunch on the picnic bench under your willow tree.

Friendly advice given to property hunters
The Midi-Pyrenees / Aveyron region

The regions' landscape changes with every turn of the road. From deep river valleys and undulating hills to views of nearby mountains. This landscape covers the lower valley of the Lot, the gorges and the valley of the Aveyron.
The regional food of foie gras, aligot and stockfish are a must to be tried and if you get bored of eating you could always pop into a wine cave for a snifter or two!
The Rignac area
There is so much to see and do in this area.
In the next valley there is Mirabel a village used by the French resistance and the village of Belcastel with it's chateau and 2 gourmet restaurants or if you fancy a bit of DIY you can take a picnic down to the Aveyron river flowing through the medieval village of Previnquieres.
All within 10 mins drive from the gite!
There is also a weekly market in the bastide town of Villefranche de Rouergue which is said to be the best in the region, or you could book a canoe for an hour, 1/2 day/whole day just to cruise throught the Gorges of the Aveyron but if you fancy sitting up a bit higher you could go horse riding through the vineyards of the Marcillac valley or if you fancy using you own two feet there are lots of walks in the area I can recommend or translate for you.
Places that are also a must to visit are Conques (world heritage site), Najac, Peyrusse Le Roc, St Antonin Val Noble, Cirq Lapopie, Bozoul and so it goes on.......
The village of Rignac is a 7 min drive holds a small weekly market and has a well stocked local shop/excellent butcher/pharmacy/2 mouthwatering boulangeries/post office/ haberdashery and something that defines every French village...5 hairdressers!!!!!!!!
There is also a park with a lake, tennis courts and an open air swimming pool.

A gite of the highest quality in a peaceful setting. This rural area of France has much to recommend it for both the actively inclined and those who just want a refreshing break. Excellent value in every way! |
Guestbook for La Fage
"Thank you for a terrific week - we very much enjoyed our stay and you hospitality. The gite itself was very welcoming and comfortable. You have obvioisly given a lot of thought in the things you provide for your visitors.
I hope your guests are enjoying the peace and tranquility of your beautiful surroundings as much as we did. You have a wonderful range of things to offer there that would be hard to match. All this and apparently unfailing good weather!"

"We thank you for your warm reception and kindness, We passed a pleasant stay at your gite. In fact everything was perfect. The decoration of the gite is lovely. If we return to the area we will not hesitate to return to see you."

"We had a great holiday. La Fage was just what we were looking for. The solitude was perfect, what with the horses, cats, swallows, buzzards, kestrels etc we were in 7th heaven. The area itself was lovely. This was the 6th time we've been to France and both agreed that the Aveyron was our favourite bit of the lot so far. "
Ken & Jacqui Ring
Voted best gite in the whole of France by us experts, we've stayed in so many. So relaxing, we've enjoyed every minute just walking and admiring the wonderful views or doing the rounds of the markets, and so quite! Don't want to go home, but hope to return soon.

Many thanks Lynne & Gary for your great gite and your hospitality was beyond reproach. We've had a wonderful holiday and love this area, hope we come back one day. We shall miss the "chooks" especially the double yolk eggs.
