- Castellane mansion is ideal for families and friends, for active holidays or resting under the sun of Provence, country of lavender and honey... - Castellane mansion has a 350 year-history. It used to be the holiday house of the Marquis Jules Boniface de Castellane, prefect of the Drome county, under the 2nd empire. More recently, the mansion was bought by a close friend of Jean Giono, the famous writer from Manosque. They regularly met at the Rotary's club of Manosque.

Riez and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence benefits from: - the proximity of mountains with many possibilities of walking - many lakes: Sainte-Croix and Esparron du Verdon. - unique sites such as the Gorges du Verdon and Moustiers Sainte-Marie. Manosque - main city of Alpes-de-haute-Provence - is the hometown of Jean GIono, a famous french writer. The climate is warm and dry in summer, even if Riez is 300m high. Therefore, summer nights can be relatively chilly.

- The mansion is located 100m away from the centre of the village of Riez, with a typical provencal market every wednesdays and saturdays. It has easy access to all amenities, including many excellent restaurants and local shops. - Main specialties are lavender and honey. - Riez has a very old history, with Roman relics: columns - Riez is ideally located. 20 minutes only from the lake of Sainte-Croix, the great Gorges du Verdon with all kind of nature and water sports, Moustiers Sainte-Marie and its tremendous site and famous faience, Gréoux-les Bains and its baths, and 30 minutes away from Manosque and its golf or the mountains of Saint-Jurs.
How to get there
By plane: - Fly to Marseille-Provence airport. or by train: - TGV from Paris to Aix-en-Provence TGV station (2h45min) or to Marseille Station (3h) Then - Rent a car at the airport or train station. Hertz, Avis and Europcar are the main ones. - Drive to Riez village. 1h15min driving from Aix-en-Provence, 1h30min driving from Marseille. Directions will be sent upon confirmation of booking.
