The house has a wing with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower means that 2 families can enjoy privacy. Decorated to a high standard, with hardwood flooring and 300 year old stone pillars in the impressive entrance hall, the Coach House is stylishly furnished and very well equipped. You will enjoy fast broadband internet access; high quality hi-fi in the lounge for music lovers; very well equipped kitchen with a 5 burner gas hob in addition to the Aga, NEFF combination microwave and electric fan oven, juicer, bread maker, ice cream maker, 2 fridges, dishwasher, qualiy stereo and beautiful garden views.
Further details outdoors:
Range of garden furniture and sun-loungers and barbecue. Parking for up to 5 cars. Walled gardens and electric gates give total privacy. Guests can help themselves to fresh produce from the well-stocked kitchen garden.

The Northern England / Yorkshire/Yorkshire Dales region

The Coach House is situated in peaceful, rolling countryside between the River Swale and the Tees, on the ancient site of the impressive 2000 year old Brigantes settlement. Children will love exploring the Coach House and its gardens, playing table tennis or playing on their bikes on the private roads. There is an abundance of historical monuments within 20 minutes' drive - castles, abbeys, earthworks, villages and towns to name but a few. Walkers will love the Yorkshire Dales, England's largest and most impressive National Park is just 15 minutes' drive away and the Lake District is just over an hour's drive with sailing, hiking, wind surfing and much more. Enjoy horse riding from the nearby stables (you can walk there!) on the perfect network of bridleways or play a round of golf at the nearby course at Richmond in the middle of beautiful countryside. Going slightly further afield, explore the stunning North Yorkshire coastline and enjoy the delights of Whitby, just over an hour's drive from here, or take a trip up the A1 for 40 minutes to a worldclass concert at the Sage Gateshead or a contemporary art exhibition at the Baltic.
The Richmond / Stanwick St John area
Richmond is 8 miles away and has an ancient catle and abbey, swimming pool, tennis courts, golf course, cinema, full range of shops selling local produce, quality restaurants and beautiful riverside walks in National Trust woodland. There is a lively Arts scene in Darlington, 8 miles away, and in May-June, the Swaledale Festival attracts musicians from all over the country. Stanwick itself has one of the largest ancient monuments in the UK, the Stanwick Camp, site of the ancient Brigantes headquarters over 2000 years ago.

I have just stayed for a weekend break for New Year and had a superb time at the Coach House. The house is very spacious (much bigger than photographs) and was perfect for a family gathering, the lovely large lounge was excellent for socialising together and we enjoyed the beautiful dining room on new years eve. Also the woodburners and aga were great on a rather cold weekend. I could not fault the house in any way and the booking process was very quick and easy, I would definately recommend the house to anyone and hope to return again. |

I took my family for a long weekend because I had work locally on the Monday. We found the Coach House online and thought the pictures and explanations looked ok. We are cautious because we have twin three year olds and our previous stay in Yorkshire was dissapointing (we stayed in a house that had a tiny living area and was poorly cleaned). We spent a bit more than our budget to stay at the Coach House but it was definately worth it. The two main things we look for are cleanliness and space and we found both in spades here. The house is very clean and you feel like you are housesitting a bit because the house is fully equipped and stocked - if you forgot olive oil, no worries, there is some in the kitchen. The wood burning stove is great, the living space was huge and the kitchen made my wife and I comment that we hope to have the same type of kitchen in our house one day (we also discussed how we would love to live in a place like this house). The location is quiet. The hamlet seems to have only a few cars a day and our kids were able to ride their scooters down the lane to the very old and impressive local church whilst they were looking at the cows and other farm animals. After we had left we got an email a couple of days later from the owner letting us know that a little boy had left a toy car wheel under the sofa and that it had been put in the mail. Very impressive finish by Simon the owner to a very impressive stay. I am an Australian working in the UK for two years and of the six places we have stayed, this is clearly the best or second best (the other contender was the West Wing of Wiveton Hall in Norfolk). Will stay here again - wouldn't dream of staying elsewhere if I need to travel to Yorkshire with work, but hope that the secret getting out won't make it more competitive or difficult to secure a booking. |
