Visitors are able to travel for miles along quiet country roads, surrounded by magnificent views in every direction; an area dotted with ancient farming communities and rural villages which is typical of this region. This area is perfect for a truly relaxing holiday away from all the stresses and strains of day to day life, where you rediscover a gentler pace of life. It's also great for enjoying a whole host of outdoor pursuits including some of the very best walks in the UK.
The Bolthole is located right at the heart of the picturesque market town of Leyburn, the main centre of mid-Wensleydale and the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Boasting an excellent range of shops, restaurants, cafes and weekly markets, those staying in the town will not be short of something to do in and around the area. Situated within Wensleydale, Leyburn also acts as a fantastic base for those wishing to explore the dale and its sights and attractions in more detail. Forming part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, those with a passion for the outdoors will be pleased with the number of walking and cycling opportunities in the area, and the famous Wensleydale Cheese Creamery is also well worth a visit. Other popular destinations within the area include the quaint market town of Hawes, the Aysgarth Falls, Middleham and West Burton. These areas can also be explored via the Heritage Wensleydale steam and diesel railway, which runs along the eastern side of the dale.
