FOUR STAR LUXURY FARMHOUSE with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, secure walled garden, private heated pool and solar shower. Style and quality are the hallmarks of this spacious, sympathetically restored 19th Century longere, with a blend of comfortable modern furniture and antiques. This large family house, accommodating up to ten guests, is ideal for two or more families holidaying together.
The award of the coveted French Tourist Board **** NN classification was based on the quality of the property, its decor, furnishings and equipment. First awarded in 2004, the classification was re-confirmed after a further detailed inspection in July 2008.
Set in a tiny hamlet in the rolling French countryside, ideal for cycling, jogging, rambling or just chilling out by the pool, Le Roitelet is only 7 kms away from the historic Southern Loire walled town of Richelieu and ideally located for visits to the famous Loire Valley chateaux and vineyards.
Whilst retaining all its original features, exposed stone walls, a wealth of beams and open stone fireplace, the house is centrally heated and double-glazed throughout, making it cool in summer and warm and cosy during the winter months.

The Loire Valley / Indre-et-Loire region
Many French people consider the Southern Loire as the place in France where the rain stops and the sunshine begins. With a temperate climate, April, May, September and October are generally warm whilst July and August are hot (sometimes very hot with temperatures well into the 30s). This is when, after a day's sightseeing, the pool and the shade of the mature trees come into their own.
The popular towns of Chinon and Saumur, each with its chateau and numerous boutiques, restaurants and bars, are just half an hour away and Tours and Poitiers are around an hour's drive.
Not to be missed are the famous Loire Chateaux, such as Usse, where "Sleeping Beauty" is said to have been set.
This area of France is renowned for its white wines, but, for true wine lovers, its lesser known reds are well worth a try. Lighter than Bordeaux reds, they can be tasted at the many smaller vineyards throughout the area. The owners are happy to recommend their favourites.
And, for those of a more energetic disposition, a visit to Futuroscope, an hour's drive away, might fit the bill.
Richelieu / Malabry area
The historic walled town of Richelieu, just 7 kms away, has an ancient Market Hall and central market square, where the market is held twice a week. After the exertions of shopping, why not relax at one of the open air cafes around the square?
Or, if you are still feeling energetic, Richelieu has an extensive Park with exotic plants and trees, which is well worth a visit. Now owned by the University of Paris, it originally surrounded a chateau built by Cardinal Richeliueu in the 17th Century. Although the chateau was pulled down long ago, the Stables and Orangery can still be visited and there is boating on the moat.
Richelieu has an interesting layout of streets constructed at right angles, said to have been used as the original model for New York and many subsequent American cities.
Closer to home, Malabry is set in a valley, making it ideal for cycling, rambling and jogging. And, after all that exercise, one of the best restaurants in the area, the "Relais des Deux Provinces" is only 2 kms up the road.
