A beautifully renovated 4 double bedroom stone "maison ancienne" parts of which date back to the 17th century set within the historical walled town of Richelieu in the Southern Loire. Comfortably sleeping 8, the house is furnished to a high standard and features log fires and Burgundy stone flooring with underfloor heating.
A quality Hi-Fi system, Wi-Fi broadband internet access, full Sky TV menu, DVDs and CDs are available along with a varied range of reading from the bookshelves. Molton Brown hand soaps, quality linens and hypo-allergenic silk duvets typify the attention to detail in this outstanding property. Logs are stored for winter fires.
This really is a luxurious place to chill out! - Experience total peace and tranquility in the garden and terrace which are South facing and back on to a 1000 acre park for great bike rides and walks.
All local amenities, local bars and restaurants etc, are within a minute or two walk from the house including the famous "Les Halles" covered market (a colourful market has been held here for 300 years) on a Monday and Friday.

The Loire Valley / Indre-et-Loire region

Known as the garden of France, the Southern Loire has a temperate climate. Classified as part of the World Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO, it is usually warm from April - October with Winter's relatively mild with less rainfall than areas North of the Loire river.
The garden and terrace of the house is a real sun trap and we have experienced temperatures well into the 30's from June - September.
The area is characterised by many chateaux and wine cave's the famous being Chinon red wines and delicate whites of the Touraine.

Tours (a mini Paris) is within 30 minutes drive of the house, as are the outstanding chateaux of Villandry and Azay-le-Rideau. The beautiful towns of Chinon and Saumur are within 20 and 40 minutes drive respectively. The Loire Valley is famous for its fairytale chateau's, stunning scenery and quality wine production.

The Richelieu area

This beautiful historical town is surrounded by walls and a moat (now grassed) and is entered via 3 high gates. The Grande Rue (high street) runs North to South with two square shaped place at each end. Around the South place are the church and the covered market both built in 1638 and the Law Court now used as the Town Hall and Museum. The famous " Les Halles" , covered market, ( a colourful market has been held here for 300 years) boasts very fine Chestnut and Oak beams which have required very little restoration since construction. A Brocante/Antique Fayre is held in the square on the first Saturday of the month along with frequent art exhibitions. There are numerous bars/restaurants within a minute or two walk from the house plus swimming, tennis, walking, cycling, boule, and the huge park behind the house is outstanding.
