This beautifully restored spacious town house in the Dordogne has 2 acres of private garden and a private swimming pool. The house is a spacious elegant family home, recently restored to a high standard. Throughout the property there are wooden floors with an elegant balustrade and each room has been individually and tastefully decorated.

The house sleeps 14 comfortably, and there is lots of space for relaxing within the house and out. The open plan kitchen and dining room open out on to a wonderful terrace with a cover area for eating out and looking at the amazing sunsets seen in this area. It is a special house.

Chez Sparey is situated in the small agricultural town of Riberac, which is renowned throughout the Dordogne for its large Friday market.

The kitchen has a commercial double oven gas cooker, with five rings and hug extractor fan. The kitchen is very well equipped as the house is a family home for periods of the year. There is a dishwasher and a double free standing deep sink unit. There is a separate utility room equipped with two washing machine, a dryer and an extra large fridge.

The dining room with its attractive fireplace, and large specially designed table, has an open fire. Logs are available for burning.

Just next to the dining room there is a television room.

The house has a large spacious living room, with lovely views over the 2 acres garden and terrace.

There are six large double bedrooms and a seventh single bedroom on the ground floor, comfortably sleeping 14 people. Each room is tastefully decorated and full of character.

There are two large bathrooms, with a further shower room and four separate further toilets within the house (six toilets in total).

The house has a 2 acre garden, with lots of wonderful wildlife and a secured pond. There is a large terrace with a covered area that has a table and chairs that would confortable seat 14 + people. The terrace offers a wonderful view some of the amazing Dordogne sunsets. On the terrace there is also a selection of outside chairs and tables and a full sized table tennis table. To the side of the house is a bar be que and a herbacous garden with a double seated swing chair. The private above ground pool is situated on a lower wooden decked terrace, with a security fence. This pretty area surrounded by blue wisteria is a lovely spot to relax on one of several sun loungers.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

The countryside in the area comprises mainly of farming, mostly sunflowers, maize, grapes and tobacco. There are many wooded areas supplying timber. The landscape is gently rolling, with high points giving some breathtaking views.

The Dordogne valley offers much to see, with its prehistoric caves and hilltop villages such as Beynac and Domme, which are within a two hour drive. The medieval town of Sarlat, and the famous Lascaux caves with the 17,000 year old cave paintings are well worth a visit. For the wine lovers the vineyards of St Emillion and Bergerac are within an hour’s drive.

The coast is only 2 hours away for great surfing and some beautiful Atlantic coast beaches and dunes, and of course great seafood.


The house is conveniently situated in the small market town of Riberac.

Riberac is a small agricultural market town based in the Dordogne, South West France. Visitors can enjoy all the facilities, such as many excellent restaurants serving French and international cuisine, six bakers, post office, art galleries tourist office, ancient church, banks, shops, many tennis courts, large open air pool (recently renovated with serious swimming and diving pools and childrens large pool) all within 5 mins walking distance.

The town is famous for its Friday markets and it boasts all the typical French produce of local fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, cheese and also many local specialities of the area, not to mention a good selection of locally made pottery. You are also able to canoe on the river Dronne that flows through the town. There are two large supermarkets on the edge of the town for doing your main shopping.

The surrounding areas around Riberac are steeped in history dating back to 300AD. The area has a wealth of history and beautiful architecture including:

Aubeterre has one of the largest and most famous monolithic churches in France.

Bourdeille has an interesting castle and beautiful meandering river.

Brantome is dominated by its monastery and the bridges which cross the River Dronne, it also boasts good restaurants and excellent canoeing.

Perigueux has a wonderful market place with cobbled streets and a magnificent Byzantine Cathedral.

There are also sandy beaches at Aubeterre (20 minutes away) and St Aulaye (30 minutes). The Grand Lake at La Jemaye with its lovely sandy beach is a 20 minute drive away. La Jemaye is a popular spot for families as there is a great childrens play area, volley ball, small restaurants and during high season life guards.
