La Villa Riambelle
About the home
Designed by a leading architect, building works completed in May 2009, La Villa Riambelle is dressed with hand-cut basalt stones recuperated from an ancient colonial home. The villa is a show case of modern architecture allied to traditional materials. The furniture is all of prime teak wood and the structure is in balao, two of the noblest of woods.
La Villa Riambelle, is situated in Riambel-Souillac 30 minutes from the airport and in the extreme south of Mauritius. This part of the country with its wilder coastline is still very natural and preserved.Though situated in the proximity of these hotels and tourist attractions La Villa Riambelle is away from mass tourism and the associated infrastructure.
The villa will interest those in quest of an authentic Mauritius and in search of a true contact with the friendly people of the island. The 2,500 square meters of the property with its secular tropical trees lead directly to a magnificient beach of granular golden coral sand and which extends for kilometres. With only one neighbouring villa La Villa Riambelle offers total intimacy.
The 300 square meters of living space, the refinement of the furniture, the 30 square meter kitchen with its professional stainless steel equipment and the carefully selected staff guaranty the excellence of the residence. The watchman sees to the security. The secured swimming pool with salt treatment, completes the comfort of the villa and adds to the pleasure of swimming in the lagoon. The bowls yard awaits those interested in the game.
In La Villa Riambelle one wakes up to the song of birds, spends the day with the whisper of the wind in the casuarina trees, watches the shooting stars at night and goes to sleep with the rumble of the sea on the reefs.

The Mauritius South Coast region

The South is the least developed part of MAURITIUS and it is the most authentic. Driving along the south coast offers the possibility to alternate between sea and hill views. The vegetation is the richest and contains many indigenous trees and plants.
Along the South coast a few shallow lagoons are to be found and there are many beautiful public beaches with easy access. In some parts of the South the open sea comes straight to rocky cliffs. The WEEPING ROCK is a major attraction where the Indian Ocean waves break thunderously on the cliff.
SOUILLAC is the most important village of the South and is spread along the coastal road. It offers the visitor some remaining historical buildings and sites and in is the home to the ROCHESTER FALLS. There are a number of 4 and 5 star hotels in BEL OMBRE and a world famous golf course at the CHÂTEAU DE BEL OMBRE.

Guestbook for La Villa Riambelle
Rene Towa from Southampton09.09.2011 16:09Villa: Riambelle.
" What an unforgettable experience .A truly hidden paradise that needs to be explored by anybody wishing to go to Mauritius.
All the staff was extremely helpful and attention to detail is not lacking at all.
Forget any five start hotel, this Villa will give you more than you would expect.
Perfect location for a peaceful retreat while accessible to all areas in the South of the Island.
A car is a requirement which Mr Francis Masson can arrange at very reasonable cost.
The villa is in perfect location to visit St Aubin and La Vanille crocodile where you can ride on giant tortoise. The villa is very well equipped, and furnished beautifully to high standards.
Nowshad the caretaker is always available to help in any way.
Take a drive down the west coast road to Le Morne or up the hills to Chamarel both only about 40 min drive away and well worth it.
Alternatively, Blue Bay is only 40 min away for an unforgettable experience.
Will use again .

" Riambelle exceeded our expectations - a great location away from the heavier tourist traffic of the west coast and the north, well positioned to visit beautfiul La Morne in the South West and Blue Bay in the South East. The staff were all excellent, but special mention must go to Nowsad - what a genuinely warm and helpful man! Our recommendation would be to hire a car and drive around the island - a much richer experience than staying in a hotel! Finally, Francis was a superb host and went out of his way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. "

" My new bride and I spent a total of 15 nights in the villas of Mr. Masson, 12 of which were at Villa Riambelle and 3 of which were at Farniente all of which were most enjoyable and sadly....far too short!
Villa Riambelle is HUGE but homely enough for just the 2 of us and certainly spacious enough for a large group. Everything one needs is there and the staff are most efficient and most unobtrusive. Of our choosing, we asked for only local cuisine to be served and wow what a treat every meal turned out to be! The cook was phenomenal - she even went as far as to buy the ingredients she needed to prepare our meals - from vegetables and herbs to fish and lobster! Nausad, the groundskeeper and his wife Fahsia are absolute gems! They are a large reason our stay at Riambelle was as special as it was. Their warmth and kindness are a tribute to the people of Mauritius. Villa Riambelle is largely untouched by the tourist industry and as such, it's your personal little piece of Mauritius and having spent time in just about every corner of Mauritius, Riambelle would be the choice destination every time! Hire a car and take the time to drive along the coast to Le Morne and from Baie Du Cap to Chamarel - probably the best drive we have ever taken. Really, we cannot say enough good things about Villa Riambelle!
Farniente is in an excellent location - close to the hustle and bustle of Grand Baie, but not so close that one forgets one's on holiday. If you are in the area, we HIGHLY recommend the catamaran cruise day trip to Flat Island operated by Hotel 20 Degrees South!
Finally, Mr. Masson... Francis is character of note and from the time I first made contact with him via e-mail, he put me at absolute ease about the arrangements. His interest and concern that we have the perfect honeymoon was everything I needed - the kind of attention one may not get if staying at a hotel or booking through an agent. Francis kindly shifted our booking after our honeymoon was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances and this he did for us at no extra cost. He met us at the airport on arrival with a warm smile and a beautiful bunch of flowers for my wife. From that point on, I was at complete ease that we were in the best of hands. Francis kept contact with us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we wanted and took the time to share a local beverage or two with us and regaled us with entertaining stories of his adventures and his plans.
In short - You need not worry about a thing! Stay at any of these beautiful Mauritius villas and you will have the time of your life!! "
The Hamiltons04.05.2011 05:05Villa: Riambelle.
" We spent 5 wonderful days at Villa Riambelle over Easter. The villa is really beautiful, particularly the gardens which are shady and very well kept. The hammocks were a favourite spot, as was the pool terrace which was just wonderful to have our morning coffee overlooking the gardens and watching the numerous tropical birds who visit the garden. The children really enjoyed the boules lane too. The villa is well located for visits to St Aubin and La Vanille crocodile and giant tortoise park - both well worth a visit. The villa is very well equipped, and furnished beautifully. The staff do a good job, in particular Nowshad the caretaker, and his wife (with her fabulous pickles!) and his wonderful dog Ergos, who looked after us so well. Monsieur Masson welcomed us personally and was extremely helpful in planning our stay; he is a real character and it was wonderful to meet him. I hope we will meet again soon! "

" Very modern and in the same time very cosy villa. Built with style and sophistication, it creates an atmosphere of relaxation and comfort. Very well thought through floor plan provides great level of privacy to every bedroom while at the same time easy access to the communal areas like reception, dining room or kitchen. The staff is very professional and very friendly. And so is the owner of the villa who is deeply involved to secure his guests receive high level of service and comfort. Beach is only few steps away from the villa and is not very busy most of the time as there are no big hotels or anything like this in the area. Very quiet and relaxing place. Can suit both a quiet family holiday and an exciting break with a company of friends. "
