The North Wales region

The Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn in Welsh) is situated off the north-west coast of Wales near the beautiful Snowdonia mountain range. It is separated from the mainland by the Menai Strait, which is spanned by two picturesque bridges, the Menai Bridge and the Britannia Bridge. Anglesey was known as Mam Cymru ('Mother of Wales') during the middle ages because its fertile fields formed the breadbasket for the north of Wales.

Today it has several thriving towns. The historic town of Beaumaris is the site of one of the castles built by Edward I after his defeat of the Welsh princes, as well as the historic mansion Henllys Hall, now a hotel. The town of Holyhead, on Holy Island, is the main ferry port for travel across the Irish Sea to Dublin and Llangefni, in the centre of the island, is the county town.

Rhosneigr

Rhosneigr Resort is situated on the beautiful west coast of Anglesey, North Wales. It has a thriving community and a rich history. Award winning sandy beaches with rock pools and safe bathing, a large lake rich in bird life and fish, unspoilt countryside stretching for miles and magnificent views of the Snowdonia Mountains and Lleyn Peninsular make Rhosneigr an idyllic location.

Rhosneigr's heyday was in the Edwardian era when it was a highly fashionable holiday destination. Today, it is still a popular holiday resort that has retained it's charm and outstanding natural beauty. It offers a host of leisure activities including fishing (sea and course), tennis, bowls, sailing, diving, surfing, horse riding and is especially well known for windsurfing and golf.

There are several pubs, clubs and restaurants as well as the usual shops and post office. The major towns of Holyhead and Llangefni and the City of Bangor are all within easy travelling distance.

Coast / Beach

Anglesey is a paradise for those who enjoy the outdoor life.

The cottage is ideally located to enjoy all that the island has to offer, there are at least 6 different beaches/bays/coves within easy reach, larger towns such as Bangor for shopping, restaurants & nightlife just 20 mins away.

Golf

The island boasts 7 superb golf courses, including the Beach Golf Course, a 9 hole pay and play course in Trearddur Bay. There is also an 18 hole course just 10 mins away at Holyhead.

Sited on the Irish Sea Coast, the courses are challenging and extremely bracing. Accept the challenge and be rewarded with supreme golf, excellent facilities, and a scenic backdrop unparalleled by any other location. Why not take advantage of the Island Golf Pass – play the five premier courses for a spectacular £79. For further details visit please call us.

Special Interest Holidays

Windsurfing - Anglesey offers excellent conditions for windsurfing for beginners and experts alike. The popular surfer paradise and seaside resort of Rhosneigr is just 10 mins drive and boasts large sandy beaches and water sports, and Treaurddur Bay - 8 miles distant, also has lovely beaches, as well as sailing and diving. Days out can include the superb Anglesey Sea Zoo, which has plenty of activities for children, Aberffraw - the former capital of Wales, offering ancient sites and many walks, or travel slightly further to the NT Botanical Gardens at Bodnant - a must see for garden lovers! There are many walks in the area and Beaumaris, with its castle is a lovely day out for all. Rhosneigr is superb for walking on the beaches.

Walking - There are romantic cosy pubs and easy walks with some of the most spectacular views in Wales making it a ramblers paradise.

"Beautiful cottage in peaceful location"

The cottage is beautiful and exactly as shown on the website. Both its interior and exterior are well maintained and the garden is fabulous for dogs. It is location on a quiet lane and is only a short distance from a lovely beach. I have been back a number of times and never been disappointed. I would recommend this property to anyone.

If our cottage was as bad as you've reviewed, we wouldn't be letting at all! It's very odd that a guest gave us 5/5 10 days before your review date and another 5/5 review 10 days AFTER your review date? Are you a jealous competitor i feel? As we don't recognise your name as a guest!

"Absolutely superb cottage in idyllic surroundings"

Everything was perfect! The huge garden for the dogs, the comfortable rooms, beautifully and tastefully furnished, view from cottage over fields with the friendly cows coming up twice each day, even the little added things on arrival were so thoughtful: the bowl of water for the dogs, the home baked loaf and milk. Also very useful and comprehensive was Carl's guide to the cottage and the island of Anglesey. Very easy to follow and very helpful to us.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any better, I suddenly thought the one thing missing was sun loungers. Lo and behold the next morning two loungers miraculously arrived at the door, presumably left by the 'good fairy' housekeeper.

So well done Carl and your staff who maintain the cottage.
Even the weather was amazing, so altogether we will definitely be booking again for next year.

"Fantastic Honeymoon with our labradors!"

After much consideration on where to go at this time of year we decided to stay in the UK and I knew my new husband to be had an affinity to Anglesey so we decided to plump for Wales and look for a property to take our two older labradors with us on our honeymoon!! Llain Big was a very special find! Fantastic garden, lovely little touches and a wealth of information in the Guest Handbook which gave us some fantastic places to eat out - even the dogs were welcomed! It's a lovely tranquil place to unwind - watching the wildlife and sheep was brilliant every morning and the dogs had died and gone to heaven!! The only downside which wasn't one really was that wi-fi was hoping to be there and the engineer hadn't been so won't be up and running till May 2014 which was a shame but it didn't spoil our break. It's very accessible and close to the A55 which makes it easy to get round the whole island - thanks to Carl and all the team for a fantastic memory and we will be returning!!

Thank you for your lovely comments and for taking the time to review the cottage. We are so pleased you had an enjoyable stay, You really have been wonderful guests and we look forward to being of service to you in the future.

"Perfect getaway"

This was the 3rd year of staying at the cottage, and each time we have noted there have been improvements. The cottage itself is beautiful , stocked with everything that a person could want. The garden is a fabulous size and our 2 dogs have the time of their lives in it.
The location is superb and there are lovely walks close by and a great cove for the dogs to swim. We enjoy ourselves and come away feeling rested but a little sad at leaving.
We have just secured another week next year so it must be good.

Thank you for your lovely comments and for taking the time to review the cottage. We are so pleased you had an enjoyable stay and look forward to being of service in the future.
