Enquire nowThe North Wales / Anglesey region
Anglesey has an outstandingly beautiful and varied coastline, making it the perfect location for walking, sailing, climbing or just relaxing on one of it's numerous sandy beaches.
The Snowdonia range is about 45 minutes away and the magnificent castles of Conway and Caernarfon are situated on the Menai Straits - well worth a visit!
On a clear day, from Holyhead Mountain you can see Ireland and the Isle of Man, and if you are feeling energetic you can descend the 300+ steps to visit South Stack lighthouse.
There are two bridges, spanning the Menai Straits, that connect it to the mainland: the original Menai Suspension Bridge (designed by Thomas Telford) and the more recently constructed Britannia Bridge (originally designed by Robert Stephenson); which carries the A55 and the North Wales Coast Railway Line.
Some other particularly special areas on the Isle of Anglesey include:
- Rhosneigr; for its sandy beach, boat launch and surfing facilities.
- The Skerries Lighthouse which can be found at the end of a low piece of land, North-East of Holyhead.
- The working windmill at Llanddeusant.
- Ynys Llanddwyn - Lovers island.
- The sea zoo near Dwyran (a must for children!)
- The church in the sea on Cribinau (Aberffraw).
- RSPB station at Ellen's Tower near South Stack Lighthouse
- Stone Science, near Pentraeth - a journey through 650 million years.
- King Arthur's seat near Beaumaris.
- Penmon Priory and Dovecote.
- The town and castle of Beaumaris.
- Red Wharf Bay, Llanddona and many other beaches.
- Cemlyn Bay for its ternary.
- Malltraeth, noted centre for bird life and former home of the late wildlife artist Charles Tunnicliffe.
- Newborough Forest (home to red squirrels).
The Rhoscolyn area
Rhoscolyn provides a peaceful holiday retreat, with areas of particular beauty including the main sandy bay and several smaller beaches with heather covered headlands forming part of it's coastline Rhoscolyn beach has a distinctly 'un-spoiled' feel about it and provides a beautiful spot to relax, play in the sand or venture in to the sea for a swim or some water sports. The main beach provides views out to several smaller islands and if you venture out by boat, you will be greeted by the spectacular 'beacon-rock', a refuge for sailors in the past. The beacon still stands alone on the island, which is now inhabited by the local grey seal colony and a variety of sea birds.
Popular activities here include cliff-top walks along the headland, with routes to the nearby beaches; Silver Bay and Treaddur Bay (Blue Flag). For the food and drink lovers amongst us, there is the excellent, recently rennovated 'White Eagle' gastro-pub, serving traditional British and locally sourced dishes, to include Welsh lamb and fresh-caught fish, with local ales and a healthy sized wine list. A couple of miles down the road in Treaddur, there is the Seacroft; another great place to eat and also the Waterfront cafe which provides a very scenic venue for a glass of wine or afternoon tea. Less than 2 miles from Rhoscolyn, at Four Mile Bridge; the Ygegin Fasch Cafe serves very good homemade food and delicious Bara Brith.

-The cottage - very comfortable, fantastic view- a true home from home meeting all my needs -Surrounding area- very peaceful with birds twittering away, easy access to wonderful isolated beaches/golden sands and walks -Further afield - drive to country parks, beaches, castles, fishing trips, etc - plenty to keep you busy - we were out every day. - Eating out - Plenty of choice - Silver Bay bar and bistro next door. - Value for money - excellent. Some other properties round there are very expensive. |

We spent a lovely Christmas at this property. We wanted a remote location where we could unwind and relax. The property was clean and tidy and very spacious. It was a shame the Aga was not working as I had planned to cook the Christmas dinner on it as I had seen it in the photos, however I full dinner was produced using the other cooker. A Christmas tree and cake were a very nice welcome! The White Eagle pub near by was a fantastic pub, great food! Lovely views and would recommend. |

This cottage has the most lovely views over the coast, headland and nearest inlet. Lovely walk down to the beach and very safe for children. Little traffic and it is a very comfortable place. Spotlessly clean and peaceful even with 3 teenagers. Barbecue was useful and we would definitely return to this place in the future. |
