Home description

Villa Maria is brand new, fully air conditioned and is furnished to a very high standard and is set in 1120 square metres of landscaped gardens.

It is close to all amenities and centrally located to explore the island. It has stunning views from the front of the whole of Afandou bay, with mountain views around the side & back of the property so whatever you prefer as a view you have it here.

It is perfect for a relaxing holiday or as a base to explore the island.

We can arrange a taxi to collect you from the airport or car hire if required.

On arrival at the villa there will be a Welcome Pack that includes water, fruit juice, milk, coffee, tea, sugar, bread, butter and preserve.

Afandou is a municipality which is open all year with shops, hairdressers, restaurants, championship golf course, Taxi rank, bus service, supermarkets, butchers, boutiques, dry cleaners, art shops, discos, tavernas, and a golfing shop. It has everything you could want no matter what type of holiday you require.

The Aegean Islands region

Rhodes has the best sunshine record of all the Mediterranean Islands. Having hot summers, warm Spring and Autumn months. The Winters are also mild. Rhodes is known for much more than its cloudless skies. There are clear blue seas, soft sandy bays and olive grove hillsides with quiet little villages nestled in them. If you like exploring seeing some of these villages and eating in them is a real taste of Greece.

There is excellent shopping both in the Old town and also the new town which has boutiques and lots of amazing shops where you can buy almost anything. The old town in the evening is all lit up and looks amazing to any tourist no matter how many times you may have seen it before. There are lots of bars, restaurants and tavernas for all kinds of food from your favourite fast food, Greek traditional dishes, and fine cuisines in fact you can get almost any type of food you can think of. There are clubs, disco's and a casino for those who come alive at night. The shops in the old town stay open late so it is an ideal way to see the shops when it is a little cooler in the evening.

Rhodes / Afandou area

Afandou beach is one of the largest on the island. Kolymbia beach is also nearby. Afandou has the only golf course on the island and it is next to the beach.

Afandou Golf course is an 18 hole, par 72 championship course. The fees for visiting players are very reasonable. This is about a 5 minute drive from the property.

As Afandou is a town it means it is open all year and has many shops, restaurants, tavernas, bars and a disco. The Patisserie has some wonderful things if you enjoy cakes of any kind. The people are friendly and very helpful. There are buses from the town square to Rhodes town and also Lindos and the various places in between. Taxis are also available. You can get almost anything delivered to the door from Pizza and kebabs to fried chicken to items from the local supermarket. There is a small novelty train that runs between the town and the beach.

Seven springs:
This is not far from the villa where both adults and children can enjoy the surroundings and there is an underground tunnel that is approximately 1km long that you can walk through. There are wonderful walks through the woods and the stream has a variety of geese that are great fun for the children to watch bathing and walking to and from the stream from the nearby grounds. There is a restaurant here and also a place to get drinks and snacks.

The Valley of the butterflies:
As the name suggests this is where all of the trees are covered in butterflies during the summer months but it is at its most spectacular late August early September. Again this is not far from the villa.

Tzambica:
This has 300+ steps to the top where the monastery is. It is renowned for women who are unable to have a child crawl up the steps with a bottle of olive oil and any child that is then conceived is known as Tzambica if male or Tzambico if female. The view from the top of the mountain is spectacular and worth the 300 steps!

How to get there

Flights during the summer season (April to end of October) Many airlines offer low cost flights from regional airports these include: Easyjet, Thomson Fly, Thomas Cook, Viking Airlines, Monarch
A simple search on the internet will show all airlines flying from your local airport

Out of Season (Nov to April): During the out of season period you have to fly to Athens and then on to Rhodes airlines include Olympic and Aegean Airways both fly to Athens and then change flight to go on to Rhodes. Easyjet do some flights direct during the winter.

The price per week covers the full private use of the villa and pool for up to 6 people.

25% deposit required on booking the villa and full payment to be made 8 weeks prior to your departure. If booking is made within 8 weeks of date booked full payment to be made on booking.

The property will be cleaned on changeover day for your privacy. For a two week booking there will be a mid stay change of towels & bedding. Extra cleaning can be arranged for a small fee locally.

A £200 security bond will be payable with your final payment and held by us, this will be returned immediately upon confirmation that no damage has been done during your stay and all keys returned.

Discounts for longer stays

Lets of over one month please enquire for pricing.

Short breaks of less than one week please enquire for pricing.

Arrival time is 4pm.

The villa must be vacated by 12 noon on the day of departure. We will try to allow later times if notified in advance and depending on bookings.

Payment methods are GBP or Euro by bank transfer, cheque or Paypal

Please make sure you arrange your own travel insurance as this is not included

Conditions

Where possible we will arrange later leaving times if guests require this because of late flights, please inform us at time of booking so we can make sure it is possible.
