Home description
Villa Amalia features the traditional Lindian house plan with a pretty, furnished, cobbled courtyard surrounded by flowers, around which the accommodation is arranged.
The entrance to the village is on the north, by its only square, which is now used as a carpark and has a large tree in the middle and a small fountain with many features from the period of the Knights. Rocks behind and above it recall ancient aqueducts.

The Aegean Islands region
The Eastern Aegean islands group is, like the Dodecanese, much closer to Turkey than to the Greek mainland. They are composed of: Chios, Ikaria, Lesvos(Mytilene), Limnos, Thassos and Samos. This group is less popular than the Cyclades but not the less interesting from a point of authenticity. There are characterized by mountainous landscapes, dense forests of pine-trees and beautiful golden sandy beaches.
This site about the Eastern Aegean and its islands provides info about the different islands: history, churches, architecture, beaches, pictures and much more such as a large choice of hotels and other accommodation.
Rhodes / Lindos area
Rhodes (Rhodos or Rodos in Greek), the beautiful island of roses, has a unique physical scenery that does not cease to impress its visitors. Also unique is its climate with more sunny days than any other place in Europe. With practically zero crime rate and friendly and hospitable people you'll be surprised how easy life in Rhodes can be.The modern village of Lindos. The graveyard is also at the entrance to the village, containing the church of Phaneromeni. A little beyond and below the square are the remains of the Moslem cemeterY containing a few graves, whose typical grave markers have been demolished. The school has been moved to the side of the Megalo Yialo and the old building, beside the church of the Panayia, built in the neoclassical style, is now used by a local society for various cultural events.
