The concept behind No47 Aristofanous is to offer couples and single travellers the luxury of a boutique hotel in a beautiful, private self-catering retreat. This is a very unique and spacious ground floor apartment in a Byzantine dwelling situated in a remarkable location amidst the wonderfully quirky cobbled streets of Rhodes Old Town that have remained inhabited and vibrant for over six centuries.

This is a private dwelling which opens on to a charming cobbled residential square perfumed by olive trees, jasmine and hibiscus. The location is ideal, a quiet hideaway just a stone's throw from the Old Town's tavernas, restaurants and UNESCO heritage sites. You need only turn a corner to find a shady terrace for a coffee or a bite to eat and plenty of night life whether you prefer lively bars or local tavernas.

The interior has recently been lovingly and sensitively restored to create a romantic and peaceful 56 square metre/600 square ft open plan living space. We want our guests to be comfortable so we have tried to create a home from home with luxurious bed linen, sumptuous towels and plenty of candles for romantic evenings.

The kitchen is well equipped for entertaining or just tossing a salad for lunch and there are areas to eat formally or informally. The bathroom is designed with a wet room shower and there is plenty of wardrobe space with full length hanging for wedding gowns and dresses. The kingsize bed was handcrafted locally from antique Rhodean oak and is made private with soft drapes that hang from the ceiling. At the threshold onto the square huge glass folding doors throw back to bring the outside in so, although there is no outside space, guests have enjoyed lounging in the sun with their coffee watching the world go by.

You do not need a car to enjoy this location. The magnificent harbour is a gentle stroll away, there are beaches with good swimming within a 10 minute walk along the promenade and plenty of restaurants, cafe's, bars and good shopping to be explored in both the Old and New Towns, all within easy walking distance. It is also easy to catch a boat from the port to see some of the islands nearby or to take you down to Lindos to see the Acropolis.

This location suits visitors all year round as many tavernas and heritage sites are still open during the winter. We have wireless internet access for those who want a working break or writers looking for a retreat.

No.47 is fully inclusive of air-conditioning / heating, water and electricity - no hidden charges. A comprehensive Services Manual will be provided in the house and containing local information and tips to get the most out of the apartment and Rhodes itself.

Kitchen comprises: Integrated ceramic hob, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils and pans, wine and water glasses and crockery.

There is free wi-fi, a docking station suitable for MP3 players, and we also leave an iPod with a variety of music for complimentary use in the apartment as well as books, magazines and board games.

The Dodecanese region

Rhodes lies approx 11 miles (18km) to the west of the Turkish shores, between the Greek mainland and the island of Cyprus. The island is shaped like a spearhead, 79.7km long and 38km wide with a total area of approximately 1, (540 sq.miles.) and a coastline of approximately 220km. There is plenty to be explored, from the sheer magic of the Medieval Town and the famous coastal village of Lindos to the largely unspoilt coast to the south of the island, with its wild headlands and beachside tavernas.

Rhodes Town

The city of Rhodes is located at the far northern end of the island, including the site of the ancient and modern commercial harbour. In terms of flora and fauna, Rhodes is closer to Asia Minor than to the rest of Greece.

The interior of the country is mountainous, sparsely inhabited with the occasional, unspoilt villages and covered with forests of pine and cypress.

Known as "The Sunshine Island" Rhodes boasts more than 300 days of sunshine every year.

We are superbly positioned inside the walls of Rhodes Old Town, one of the key attractions of Rhodes. World famous and packed with history, tradition, charm, friendly tavernas and an array of activities that cater to all tastes.

Other highlights we can suggest are Monolithos Castle, perched on a rock 787 feet high and dating from before 1480, where you can enjoy the most amazing views. The village of Siana which stands on the south side of Mount Akramytis, famous for exquisite honey and the impressive church of Agios. Hunt down the quaint waterside taverna when you drive down the glorious Glyfada Bay. You could choose a winery, olive grove, a sandy or a pebble beach, breathtaking archaeological sites, a quiet life or a vibrant nightlife. Rhodes is the perfect place to find absolute balance.
