Home description

The cottage is ideal for young couples ( or 4 pers-family making holiday together and using the 2 apartments ).

It consists of two independant apartments one on the ground floor and one on the first floor, each sleeping 2.

The ground floor apartment has a living-kitchen room with fireplace and a separate bedroom, whereas the apartment on the first floor has a large room with a fully equipped kitchen corner, dining, sitting and sleeping area and terrace with deckchairs and dining table. The furniture is new, modern and comfortable, bathroom with shower.

Baby cot and highchair available

Each apartment has central heating ( euro 50 p. week) if required , it might be chilly in spring and autum

The house is surrounded by a spacious garden , the view is pleasant and relaxing.

The village Rezzonico is at a few mins by car and has a small supermarket, pizzeria, bank, pharmacy and some small shops .For extensive shopping you go to Menaggio ( 8 km), Como, Lugano etc

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area

Lake of Como is at the south side of the Alps , 40 km north of Milan ,we have a very pleasant climate, nice springtime, not too hot summer with a refreshing breeze, and colourfull autumns. The winters are bright, hardly no rain, once or twice a good snow fall which paints the mountaintops white and invites to go up into the higher valleys with sleigh and skis!

The lake is visited by young people as it has excellent watersport facilities for swimming, sailing, surfing, the surrounding hills and mountains invite walking and you discover small hamlets, chapels and churches on forgotten spots, the high mountains all around have lots of tracks for hiking. the high Alps are near enough for a day trip or excursion.

The tourist who wants to relax, goes into the village square, buys a cappuccino , observe the locals chatting, takes the boat to see the beautiful shores and villages from the water side, visit the gardens of the famous 18th century villa's.

History is all around: Como's cathedral, romans churches either along the lake or up the hills. Lake Como was known to the romans, important in the middle ages as a through-way to northern countries either for fighting the neigbouring countries or trade with them.

Rezzonico area

Rezzonico is probably the most picturesque village of lake como, situated on a small peninsula, with a dominating castle. Around the castle secluded beaches are to be discovered, the villages has all you need for shopping and a few restaurants.

for extensive shopping, night life and further tourist attractions you depend on Menaggio at 10 mins by car.

Menaggio is half way the north-west shore, at 20 km from Como and 25 km from Lugano. In front of Menaggio is the well known Bellagio and Varenna, further down to Como the rich and the beautiful have their villa's ( film actors and football players...)

Menaggio itself is a lively little town with a weekly market where the locals from the surrounding mountains come down for a chat and bring in their home made cheeses. Cosy piazza's narrow streets with trendy shops, good restaurants, a nice boulevard for an evening stroll, music, open air cinema etc.

How to get there

Fly to Milan or Bergamo ( low cost), hire car or use public transport from airport to Como city and proceed by bus to Rezzonico. ( 40 mins)

Driving by car from airports: follow autostrada towards Como, follow Menaggio ( 20 km), Rezzonico (8 km).

Driving by car from Switzerland ( gotthard tunnel), exit Lugano nord, follow Lugano, italian border, Porlezza, Menaggio.
