Villetta Maria is a most charming rural building with a terrific view over Lake Como. It was completely rebuilt some years ago an has a lot of outdoor spaces such as a garden with dining area, a barbecue which at the same time is a pizza and bread oven!
A patio for your breakfast outside the dining room and the master bedroom has a very nice little terrace too. From every angle that splendid view!

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
Lake Como is 50 km long and north of Milan and one of the most beautiful. It is considered the deepest lake in europe ( 400 m)and situated in a basin at the foot of the Alps, surrounded by lovely valleys where you can hike or bike. As Lake Como is on the border with Switzerland, some of these valleys are a high-pass for hikers ( in the past for smugglers!) In winter the tops and higher valleys are snow covered . The shores of lake Como alternate between picturesque villages leaning out on the water, small gravel beaches, pleasure harbours and water sport areas for windsurfing, sailing and water skiing. Mountain bikers and trekkers have an ample choice.
Rezzonico area
Rezzonico is a picturesque village with a secluded rocky -gravel cosy bay , which you don't see from the road . It has a pizzeria, small supermarket , pharmacy and bank, for extensive shopping you depend on Menaggio or Dongo. Menaggio ( 8km) along the lake, has narrow streets, good shops, restaurants. The long boulevard goes from the harbour to the "lido" with swimming pool, playground for children and minigolf. For a relaxed holiday start off with a Capuccino at the local "bar" , stand up at the counter as Italians do or sit down outside and watch the by passers.
Make a visit to the villa's Balbianello, Carlotta, Melzi, take a day trip on the boat and crisscorss from village to village: Bellagio, Varenna, Lenno. visit Como-city, with historical buildings, churches,good restaurants, 3 weekly market ( don't forget the vegetable-fish market). Take the car and go up the winding roads in the hills and mountains, stop at a church or monastery, taste the local cheeses and wines. Remember to order pizzocheri, misultin and try the " Inferno" wine and grappa. Go on a daytrip to Milan ( trendy shopping, tradefaires, old centre, Scala.)
Why not to Bergamo (Bergamo alto) , Verona ( opera) or even Venice? Lugano just over the border in Switzerland ( 25 km) shows you how different the atmosphere can be between the two countries. visit the waterfalls of Bellano and Nesso , for golfers : the golf course of Menaggio is the oldest of Italy! for a taste of high alps , drive to St. Moritz ( 90 km). the famous mountain resort.

From airport Milan or Bergamo by car or train to Como. From Como by bus or by car. Driving from Switzerland , Gotthard tunnel, Lugano, Menaggio, Rezzonico.

Further details indoors: On the ground floor a living room with wood burning fireplace which makes chilly evenings pleasant ( we don't have central heating but auxiliary heaters ) . It has a sofa bed ( for a small child ), dining area, fully equipped open kitchen with fridge and microwave. An open staircase takes you to the first floor where the double bed is and the bathroom with shower. Overlooking the bed is an open plan bed platform with two single beds, which you reach by a steep stair.
Further details outdoors: A large furnished garden with dining area,and barbecue, pizza oven, patio and small terrace on first floor. Parking in the fenced garden. The last 200 metres are a tiny road not suitable for station wagon cars.
