Imagine a stunning view on a castle and on the lake of Como. Imagine a village where the streets are narrow and old style, where there is no noise, no traffic, nothing that can disturb you…so that it’s easier to have the impression of being back in the 19th century. Imagine a peaceful apartment, ideal for a very relaxing holiday and also a good starting point for long walks on the mountains and for trekking for people who are fond of this sport All these sensations come from the ancient village of Rezzonico, a Medieval little town with small streets and shops that resembles very much the description of Alessandro Manzoni in his “Promessi Sposi”, and the apartment we are talking about is Platani, a cosy place in a two floors building, 100 m far from the Castle. The balcony’s apartment and the living room are the perfect places to have breakfast on a sunny morning whilst enjoying stunning view of the lake. The apartment has also an independent kitchen, two bedrooms, one double and one twin bedded, a bathroom with tub . If you want there is also a garage for your car. Outside there is a terrace where you can sunbathe and sit sipping a glass of wine.
Every season is worth a visit, because the climate is mild. Springtime starts in April, May and June are warm. In July the temperature reaches 25-30 degrees, but there is always a lovely breeze, a must for surfers and sailing boats. September and October are much loved too and winters are usually cold but bright with lot of sunshine . We have central heating so the apartment is very suitable also for winter breaks.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
Lake Como is 50 km long and is one of the most beautiful of Europe. In the nineteenth century it has been a retreat for wealthy Milanese families who built beautiful villas. Some of them are open to the public and their gardens are really worth to be visited. Near Varenna is villa Monastero, Villa Melzi in Bellagio, Villa Carlotta in Tramezzo, Villa Balbaniello in Lenno. Rich and famous people from all over the world have come here for vacation and some of them have bought beautiful mansions ( from Versace to George Clooney). In summer you can practise golf, swimming, sailing, wind surfing and all water sports. If you want to visit the surroundings in less than 30 km you reach Lugano in Switzerland, and 90 km the famous ski resort St. Moritz. The nearest international airport is Malpensa (Milan), 90 km. During all year, thanks to the Mediterranean climate, high mountains around the lake invite hiking and walking. And for the relax supporters, excursions to Como, Milan, Lugano are recommended. Shoppers will love the designer fashion factory outlets near Como and Swiss border.
Rezzonico area
Rezzonico is a small village of houses and towers, narrow streets, steep roads with arcades and porticos. It is a characteristic Medieval suburb dominated by a beautiful castle dating back to the year 1000. Along the shores you find secluded beaches and picturesque spots. The surroundings are very quiet and picturesque. Its location is ideal for day trips by ferry to the other shore of the lake( Bellagio) and by car to nearby small lakeside towns and villages, Menaggio, Varenna, Tremezzo, Lenno, Como. The village is very quiet, has few restaurants, trattorie where you can taste lake fish ( lavarello, alborelle, misoltini ), a small supermarket, bank, pharmacy. For extensive shopping and night life Menaggio, a lively town with the oldest golf course and tennis courts, is nearby.

By air: to Milan Malpensa or Linate airports (90 km) or to Bergamo (130 km) by low -cost airlines Ryanair, Easyjet etc. By car from Switzerland: Gotthard, Lugano, Porlezza, Menaggio, San Siro, Rezzonico By car from Switzerland :Spluegen Pass, Chiavenna, Gravedona, Rezzonico By car through Italy: Milan, autostrada towards Como.

Dear Lucia, Thank you for making our visit to Lake Como so easy to arrange. Everything was just as we hoped. We found San Siro and the Pizzaria, and the owner was most helpful and friendly, in spite of having limited English and we even less Italian! The Villa is very pleasant and has all that we needed. We found the Como area to be beautiful, with many interesting places to visit. Of course the Lago lives up to its reputation as being dramatic and full of life. We would certainly recommend a visit to the Villa Platani to any one. We still recall the warmth and charm of this part of Italy in our dull and damp England. Thank you Peter and Christina Wallis
