Home description
Villa loutra is perfectly placed for the quietest holiday but close to all amenities. Two double bedrooms with queen size beds sleeps 4 in comfort. Fully fitted kitchen with granite worktop. Luxury living room ( 3m by 5 m) ,with flat screen t.v. showing English films and news. Games and books. Towels and bedlinen provided. Going out of the front door is a patio (7m by 5m) with table and chairs and going upstairs is a tiled roof terrace ( 6m by 12m) for sunbathing. In the grounds of the villa it has its own olive grove of 20 trees. Around the pool area there are sunbeds, children's pool (5m by3m by 90cm deep)and children's playground. The large pool (15m by 5m) has a diving platform. The front garden of the villa is scented with jasmine, rosemary, sage, lavender and bougainvillea. The villa is perfect for your holiday because the architect of these properties is regularly featured in 'a place in the sun' magazine which means that you will have a guaranteed quality of northern european standards. Lastly, good, but not good to talk about, unlike most of Crete the toilet paper can be flushed down as in u.k.

The Crete region
The village of loutra lies between Heraklion (about 1 hour) and Rethymno (about 20 mins) on the north coast of Crete. Visitors have always been welcomed into a warm and friendly traditional atmosphere, which the locals retain to the present day. The beautiful surrounding area is ideal for walkers who wish to explore the countryside. The buses go regularly to Rethymno. For culturally interesting outings, you may choose to visit the monasteries of Arkadi and Prevely. and the world famous Minoan palace of Knossos. Otherwise you may wish to visit the wilderness wonders of the Samaria Gorge or simply take time to visit the mountain village of Margarites where traditional pottery and wood carvings areas still being produced.El Greco birthplace is nearby.
Rethymno area
The nearest beach is Scaleta which is 1200m from the villa. It is a sandy beach with local tavernas and coffee shops. Adelianos Kampos beach is 4km from the villa with beach bars, restaurants,etc. Platanias beach is 7km with tavernas, water sports, supermarkets and beach bars. There are lots of places to visit around Rethymno. Hire a car and drive up to the mountains and visit traditional Cretan villages. There are water sports at one of the local beaches. Rethymno is 12km away and is 20 minutes by car or 30 minutes by the local bus service. There is a good market in Rethymno every Thursday. This is a beautiful town with lots of shopping, tavernas, bars and nightclubs if you want them.Please email to see any more beach pictures of where we go.
