Villa Dimitra is a traditional country house, originally built more than 2 centuries ago. The house is located in the beautiful village of Amnatos but it provides its guests with absolute privacy within its grounds. The villa offers magnificent mountain views and numerous sitting places where you can relax and enjoy the sound of the singing birds. Finally, the house is full of antique furniture and utilities which will travel you back in centuries.

The villa is a two-story country house of 200 sqm which has been restored and renovated with respect for tradition. The building was originally constructed in 1800. In 1998, the owner renovated the house with respect to its history, and transformed it into a traditional villa, where you can relax and enjoy the Cretan country side.

Outdoors you can find a 70 sqm large garden with a large wooden table, the 25 sqm swimming pool, a barbecue, a traditional wood oven, a marble sink, facilities for cooking outside, sun beds with tables, plenty of places to sit and enjoy the magnificent view and parking space for 2 cars.

Indoor living room area that has old furniture with traditional Cretan textiles, offers comprehensive proposal entertainment DVD and CD player, cable TV and wireless internet. It is worth noting that there is even a traditional fireplace and air conditioning and heating in all rooms, in order for the house to be used as a travel destination during the winter in a transformation of the landscape of nature particularly enjoyable. Three double bed bedrooms, two bathrooms and a modern fully equipped kitchen which has all the necessary appliances (such as antique-style electric oven, microwave, antique fridge and freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, juicer, etc..)

The villa can accommodate 6 guests in 3 bedrooms which have double beds. Furthermore, there is a possibility to accommodate 4 more people (total 10), as the 4 comfortable couches can easily be converted into beds. There are also 2 bathrooms with shower and laundry for guests' convenience.

Entering the house, there is an open-plan area of 33 sqm which includes a dining table for 6 people, a sofa-bed, the living room area, a small room where you can find the washing machine, and a bathroom. Right next to the living room area is the fully-equipped separate kitchen.

On the ground floor there is also a dining table for 8 people and one more living room area with 3 sofa-beds. Finally the first double-bedded bedroom is located at the end of the ground floor, offering direct access to a veranda its own sitting area and to the garden of the house.

Going up the wooden staircase, you will find the remaining 2 double-bedded bedrooms and a beautiful terrace with great view, which also has direct access to the villa's garden. One of the two bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom.

Finally, the villa has baby cots that can be used and installed in any room, depending on the needs of visitors.

The villa was built by John Chaliopoulou monk in 1800, who also renovated the existing main church of the village, Church of the Life Giving Fountain. In 1998 the house was bought by its current owners, who restored it as it is today. Situated in an area of exceptional natural beauty, surrounded by gardens with flowers and trees, not just a cottage or vacation cradle. Located on the highest point of the village inhabited by Venetians who left old Venetian buildings, offering stunning views of the Cretan Sea, Mount Psiloritis and surrounding lush mountains and gorges area.

The Crete region

Holidaying in Crete and renting a Crete villa or apartment are a great and unique way to see the largest and most southern of the Greek islands. The island has an enormous wealth of myths, legends and historical sites. There is also incredibly natural beauty on the island, with the stunning mountain ranges running from one end all the way to the other, breaking only for the fertile plateaus of Lasithi, Omalos and Nidha. The landscape is also dotted with caves and gorges, like the famous Gorge of Samaria, the home of the kri-kri, which can now only be found on Crete.

Rethymno

Amnatos is 17km from the centre of Rethymnon and it is the last village on the way to the historical Monastery of Arkadi. The village is built on a rocky and high location having superb views across the valley of Rethymnon.

The village was inhabited by the Venetians and the Turks and testify that the imposing buildings - towers of the village that survived until today. Houses Venetian notables (houses benezi), glass chimney style sebastiano serlio, mansions from the 17th and 18th century, imposing towers (the sanguinazzo) beautiful and lovely squares dominate and create a frame of a bygone era.

Due to the location of the village and the terrain in the area, there are many beautiful hiking and biking trails as to the nearby village of Kapsaliana where you can find the Museum of Olive. We will provide you for free 3 mountain bikes and light equipment for hiking (baton). Finally, the location enables visitors to explore the archaeological site of ancient Eleftherna and caves of Melidoni and Zoniana which are some of the most famous tourist destinations in central Crete.
