The villa is situated on the edge of the historic village Kyrianna on what was part of an old olive grove. the village of Kyrianna is only a 10 minute walk up a steep hill or a 2 minute drive away. the village has 2 tavernas, a kafeneo, a butchers and 2 village shops. The views from the villa are stunning as it has sea ,mountain and valley views and behind there is a new olive grove that was planted up in 2012. To date there are no plans to build on the vacant plot next to ours.

Please note that the villa is located down a typically Greek track which is definitely rough in places with holes but once you're at the villa it is totally worth it lol

For those of you that cannot do without or need access to the internet there is an internet cafe 5 minutes drive away based in the local taverna in Pigi village

The villa is on the edge of some very good mountain biking runs and is an excellent base for hiking and walking holidays. The location is also good for quiet or romantic holidays & the location of the villa will give families the opportunity to enjoy themselves without disturbing other holidaymakers.Although peaceful the area is only a short drive (15 minutes when you know the roads) from Rethymnon,a large town which offers excellent nights out, although nearby Sfakaki and all along the old Rethymnon road there are great shops and excellent tavernas

The property comprises of two bedrooms, both twin beds, with a large wardrobe and storage space.

We have a wonderful Russian/English/Greek speaking cleaner and a real gent who has lived on the island for 9 years who will be maintaining the pool and who by the way is a fountain of knowledge

The Crete region

Crete is the most southerly of the Greek islands it is 155 miles long and 7.5 miles across at its narrowest. The climate varies, it can have snow on the mountains from January to March and amazingly January almost always has around 12 days of beautiful sunshine, spring flowers can be seen during the months of April and May when the weather is warm and fresh. June is hot, July and August even hotter, September to October begin to cool, although we always holiday in September and it is always in the 70's, and a second show of the Cretan flora is visible. November and December bring more wintry weather.

Crete has an abundance of historical sites and cities to visit, it is divided into four prefectures. The villa is set near the Rethymno prefecture, which lies mid/west of the island. Rethymno is the region's tourist and cultural capital, it boasts a Venetian fort with harbour and lighthouse below, surrounded by a variety of tavernas and restaurants to while away the time. Venetian arches and a Turkish minaret are seen in the old town around which streets of shops welcome visitors to browse at their goods.

The charming village of Kyrianna is located on the north coast of Crete, approx. 15 km from the town of Rethymno and on the road to the Arkadi Monastery.

In the centre of the village of Kirianna is the Byzantine church of the Panagia. The church has a large dome supported at the intersection of the aisles forming the cross. In front of the church there is a bell tower with three arches, unique in its beauty and detailed craftsmanship. In the church there is a piece of marble decorated with reliefs showing the life of Christ and the Saints.

In Kapsaliana there is a traditional settlement, which formerly housed the olive press for the Arkadi Monastery. The buildings have recently been restored and are now housing the Museum of the Olive tree.

Due to the holocaust it suffered in 1866, the Arkadi Monastery is considered one of the greatest historical monuments and monasteries in Greece and is one of Europe's most important monuments to Freedom. The Monastery is open for visitors and today there are two monks living there.

The closest beach is at the resort of Pigianos Kampos, only 5 km's away. The sandy beach stretches for 20 km and continues all the way in to Rethymno town. The beach resort itself has everything you need for a day at the beach, with water sports, bars, restaurants and shops.

"Utterly amazing place to go for a peaceful and relaxing break in the sun"

This is a very well equipped house, providing a holiday location literally off the beaten track, allowing you to experience the real Crete. The pool is well maintained and although being at the front… More

Wow...thank you so much! :))

We feel Crete is a little piece of heaven we can all enjoy.

"A home from home villa in a superb spot in the " Real Greece""

Had a fantastic week in this little corner of paradise that we found. The setting is superb for anybody looking to spend time away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life and experience the real Greece. Only saw the very occasional tractor or truck passing by on the track and rest of the time you could only hear the chicados, birds, goats and the odd dog barking in the distance.
Surrounded by olive trees with distant views of the sea , there are no other properties close by, although there is a plot of land next door for sale.
The villa is of a very high standard with quality fittings and fixtures. Beds very comfortable and both slept like logs. Kitchen well equipped although we did not cook as too many lovely Greek tavernas to sample! Although you do need a car to get to these.

Lovely having the pool to cool down.

A wonderful weeks holiday which was far too short! Would recommend to anybody looking for a quiet, relaxing break away, who wants to sample life on the outskirts of a typical Greek village and not in a busy tourist resort and who is happy to drive.

"The place ticks all the boxes for a great holiday"

The owners have taken alot of care and attention with this place It is a new villa with all the modern conveniences. It is in an ideal location, close to the shops, the beaches and the major roads . The Villa is secluded for a little peace and quiet. It has a good size pool and a place for entertaining.

This was our first trip to Crete and the owners were very helpful. They provided alot of guidance and were very easy to contact. I would recommend the place to all. We will definitely be returning to Villa Elysia again

It is always wonderful to hear that our guests have loved the villa and area as much as we do. We wanted to make it a home from home, somewhere with everything you would want in your house.Glad we seem to be getting it right :)
