About the home

Villa 5 Anemoi (translation: 5 Winds) located in Lefkogia village, South Crete, was build 120 years ago. During the complete renovation of the house in 2008, most of the original materials were re-used and the renovation was inspired by traditional building techniques in order to meet the luxury standards without loosing its authentic shape and style.
Lefkogia village is an excellent starting point for numerous excursions, only 2 km away from 4 out of numerous amazing beaches that one after the other form the marvelous coastline of South Crete, is a place you simply can not get bored of!

Villa 5 Anemoi is an authentically old,enchanting and very very spacious house. It breaths out an ambience that is going to make you feel like traveling through time to past century! Its distinctive style, its authenticity (due to its peculiar structure with the stone and the wood as its dominant structural components, the traditional hand made furniture, all its entrances and exits from everywhere) and its inveteracy, all these together give to the house a very special character! There is nothing superfluous or extravagant in it. It is elegant through its simplicity!

Travel through time in it's scenic atmosphere and feel the comfort along with the sense of returning to a simpler way of life! Ideal for families and nature lovers, due to a fabulous gorge nearby and our small farm with horses, pigs, geese, rabbits, ducks, chickens, sheep, and our small artificial pond with the gold fish! Let your kinds play freely, climb trees and meet the animals while you enjoy a refreshment! Not only your kids are going to love it, but also you!

Facilities

Further details indoors:
With a living area of 170 square meters, divided over two floors accessible by an interior as well as an exterior stairway, the villa offers plenty of space to live. It is accommodated to comfortably host up eight to ten persons.

Due to its massive walls the house will stay at comfortable temperatures even in mid summer.

The kitchen is fully equipped in case you 'd rather stay in sometimes and prepare your own meals or dinners, instead of going out.
There are 3 bedrooms on the upper floor accessable from the exterior but also from the interior stairway (two with a double bed, and one with two single beds (spacious bedrooms where 2 extra beds can be added), 2 bathrooms (with shower room), a living room with a fireplace and a sofa - bed, an atmospheric spacious dining room and generous outdoor space consisted of a private garden and a terrace on the ground floor which is accessing the fourth bedroom (with the double bed), the kitchen and the living room, as well as a balcony which is shared by the two bedrooms of the upper floor.

CD-DVD-SAT-Internet (Wi-Fi) are also provided.

The outside area of the villa equals 125 square meters with an additional 25 square meters private parking area.

The terrace, which is shadowed by plants that creep up a wooden trellis, is accessible from the kitchen and the dining room on ground floor. An exterior stairway (as well as an interior one) is leading to the upper sleeping rooms and another balcony. The villa benefits from a private garden with a small lawn ideal for rest and relax at nightfall.

And keep in mind that in an easy walking distance of 700m a small farm awaits for you any time you feel the need to relax! Enjoy nature at its best!!! Feel the calmness among countless olive trees and a variety of lovely animals as horses, geese, ducks, hens, dogs, kittens, pigs (!) rabbits, chicken, lamps and goats! It's amazing the tranquillity and the peace one feels among them!
If you are open to new experiences then let us arrange for you unique excursions at the depths of the sea, or take you for a horseriding along the tracks of the village!

Bed linen and bath towels are provided. A free maid service is also provided twice a week to clean your villa Bedclothes and towels are being changed twice a week.

Beach towels are NOT provided. Please be kind enough to bring your own!

The Crete region

The village of Lefkogeia is located at the south coast of Crete. It is a quiet picturesque village close to the lively fisherman town of Plakias and within 25 kms south of the city of Rethymno.

The Villa Pente Anemoi is surrounded by beautiful and spectacular mountain scenery.

Due to its location, it is an excellent starting point for excursions in the south and also to the northern parts of the island. If you're keen on discovering more secluded scenery there are lots of opportunities for both short rambles and demanding treks.

The Rethymno / Plakias area

In about two km distance there are some of Crete's most beautiful beaches with turquoise crystalclear water like Ammoudi, Ammoudaki, Klisidi, Schoinaria, Damnoni and Paligremnos, and even more places waiting to be explored, as well as beaches accessible only by boat.

The gorge of Kourtalioti is renowed for its wild beauty. Discover its enchanting secrets and enjoy the lush nature and the astonishing view down the rocks!!! The Kourtalioti river diverts into five brooklets, forming ponds, dropping down waterfalls, meeting again, passing the palm tree forest of Preveli to finally flow into the Libyan Sea.

Another interesting outing is a visit of the monastery of Preveli, located high above the jagged coastline with great panoramic view.
The monastery of Preveli was founded in the 16th century, since then it played an important role as spiritual, cultural and political centre, well known beyond the natural borders of Crete.
The footpath down to Preveli Beach starts high on a cliff, another path is leading to further beaches towards the east where two tavernas can be found as well.

The unusual folcloristic and historic museum of Papa Michalis in Asomatos brings previous centuries back to live. Learn about cretan history from times of the turkish occupation until today, imagine what live may have been like a hundred years ago in a mountain village.

The island's two airports Chania and Heraklion are both about 120 km away, Rethymnon is in easy driving distance with 30 km.

We are also accessible by ferry lines from Piraeus, since the city of Rethymno has it's own port

We are easily reachable by public bus, by taxi transfer from the airport or by rent car. All crossings have signs, and it's not too many on the way to Lefkogeia.
